TELEVISION TEAM The Eleventh Hour television singers from Chattanooga Tenn will be at the union arbor at Union Grove this weekend The group will present a special gospel program on Saturday night at 7:30 with Rev rank Rosser assistant director of Baptist International Missions Inc speaking They also will present a special program of Christian music at the arbor at 2:30 pm Sunday The public is invited to attend the services Two Wills Probated The will and codicil of Mrs Church has been probated and filed in the office of Carl Smith clerk of court The will dated May 8 1950 and a codicil dated April 6 1964 provide that all property be sold at the death of her husband and herself and converted to cash Two daugh ters Mrs Beatrice White and Mrs Gay Yates are to be reimbursed for funds expended for the care of their parents and the remainder is to be divided equally between the children': Mrs White Mrs Yates Mrs Virginia Christy George Church and Blanche Grant George Church was named executor In a will dated eb 2 1970 Idelle Cowan provided that all of her property be sold and converted to cash with the dis tribution to be two thirds to nieces and nephews: Lois Alice Houston and Lindsey Bowles and Waitsell Gwaltney The other one third is to go to a niece Mary Evelyn Howe and she was named executrix Hearings Scheduled RALEIGH (AP) Hearings are scheduled in Wake District Court Sept 23 for 22 young per sons arrested Wednesday as state county and local officers cracked down on illegal drugs in the Raleigh area SBI Director Charles Dunn said the arrests climaxed sev eral months of investigation by an undercover officer who al legedly purchased drugs from some of the accused Those arrested included two girls who were attended class es in Sanderson High School in a well to do section of the capi tal city Those arrested were placed under bonds ranging from $1000 up to $9000 for Carl Kutz 18 who was charged in nine felony warrants All but four of those arrested were Rogers Morton demanded Wednesday that CBS grant the GOP time to reply to the Demo crats as ordered before election day but no later than Oct 12 Morton offered to pay for the time if the ederal Communica tions Commission later reverses its ruling that the network must give the Republicans free time to reply to a 25 minute free time DemocraticNational Committee broadcast July 7 In a letter to Dr rank Stan ton president of the Columbia Broadcasting System Morton noted that CBS is holding up granting the free time pending an appeal to the CC by the net work and the Democrats To get the time before the Nov 3 general elections Morton asked for the 25 minutes of prime time over the CBS tv and radio networks at least 20 days after Stanton replies to his let ter He added no later than Oct Dr Cheek Is Named WASHINGTON (AP) Dr King Cheek president of Shaw University in Raleigh NC has been named the new president of Morgan State Col lege in Baltimore the Washing ton Post reported riday Dr Cheek 33 has been presi dent at Shaw since July 1969 when his brother James re signed from the job to become the head of Howard University in Washington The Post said that Dr Cheek confirmed a report Thursday that the Morgon presidential se lection committee had offered him the position and that he had accepted it Dr appointment must be approved by Morgan board of trustees which meets Sept 15 but that is only consid ered a formality once the selection committee has offered the position to a candi date Dr Cheek who has not yet submitted his resignation offi cially to board of trus tees said he is uncertain as to the exact date when he will take over at Morgan Morgan which is a center of black education has an enroll ment of 4376 undergraduate and graduate students Cheek has received his mas ters degree in economics and law degree from the University of Chicago He will become ninth president succeeding Dr Martin Jenkins who resigned last January after heading the college for 22 years autopsy has disclosed that a girl who liked religious music and who was described as a country had been sexual ly assaulted and then shot three times in the head The body of 20 year old Vir ginia Carol Main had been found Wednesday in woods just outside of Dallas north of Gastonia The Ashe County girl had been missing since Aug 21 from a Gastonia home where she cared for an invalid wom an Gaston County Coroner Bill McLean said Thursday that Miss Main had been shot three times in the brain Lt loyd Braxton of the Gaston County rural police said Miss Main was believed to have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped in the woods Miss hobby was collecting inexpensive jewelry On her body were found two wrist watches five rings two bracelets and an anklet Her body was partly disrobed
