Lund, former assistant cashier of the Affiliated Bank of Madison, was charged with embezzling $5,175. Houston, is Wisconsin may open ducks fiMrinfl WPPK a MADISON. Wis. (AP) The government has proposed that Wisconsin ease the congestion of opening day by adding a midweek beginning to this year's 44-day duck hunting season. The proposal by Nathanial Reed of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service would add three days to the season, and would open the hunt on Wednesday Oct.

1 rather than on a more hectic weekend day. Wisconsin had a 50-day hunt last year, avoiding its traditional Saturday opening, a move which annoyed hunters who say hunting is best on opening day but who are unable to hunt except on weekends. The 47-day decision rests with the Natural Resources Department, which will be reviewing commentary on federal proposals until Aug. 24. Also to be decided Is whether to continue the point system for measuring bag limits, with 100 points the daily limit.

Redlieads and canvasback are worth 100 points; wood ducks, hen mallards, black ducks and hooded mergansers count 90; pintails, teal, scaup, shovellers and gadwail count 15; drake mallard and others count 35. The federal rules propose widgeons count 35. They were 15 last year. Goose hunting rules are expected to change little, except for a new style of tag designed to frustrate violations in the popular Horicon Marsh zone. HIXTON, Wis.
