making himself some money instead of loafing around. Commissioner Farley, questioned as to the" place of the Dempsey-Tunney bout, declared: "I expect the bout to be' held in New York." He would not elaborate on the statement. Boxing Commissioner James A. Farley yesterday made public the reports of the two judges and the referee of the recent Dempsey-Sharkey bout. Tom Flynn, one of the judges, said he thought Sharkey received two lefts that were slightly low in the seventh round, but not enough to hurt him or cause the disqualification of Dempsey.

The other judge, Charles F. Mathison, said he believed Sharkey had been struck three foul blows in the seventh round. Mathison denied having issued a statement to newspapermen criticizing Jack O'Su Hi van's refereeing. O'Sullivan prepared no written statement, but told Commissioner Muldoon that when he started to count over Sharkey the fighter said: "Don't count me out. I'm fouled." O'Sullivan said he told Sharkey to get up and continued the count.

Bold Michael Francis McTigue was named by the boxing commission yesterday to succeed Jack De-Ianey as light heavyweight champion of the world. The grand old Irishman was given the title back again when Pete Reilly, Delaney's manager, appeared before the commission and forfeited Delaney's title so that Jack might become a contender for the heavyweight crown.

Reilly started the fireworks when he asked permission for Delaney to mingle with Paolino Uzcudun at the Yankee stadium, Aug. 11. Commissioner Farley told Peter they would offer no objections to the bout provided Delaney gave np his title, to which" Reilly readily agreed. In Writin. The commission compelled Reilly to sign a letter agreeing to have Delaney fight only in the heavyweight class, and that if he found he could make the light heavyweight limit once more, to return to that division as a contender only.

Reilly also agreed to this part of the bargain and the only thing necessary to make the Pao-lino-Delaney bout a sure thing is the forwarding of the signed contracts, which probably will take place today. In naming McTigue champion, the commission made it plain to Jimmy Johnston, McTigue's mouthpiece, that he would have to defend his title within sixty days against the best opponent Jess Mc-Mahon could secure. Tommy Loughran was suggested by the commission as the man. A Fightin Champ. Johnston immediately declared that Mike would fight anybody within thirty days.

This seemed to satisfy the commission, and Mike was once again a champion. Now McTigue will have to show the boys that he will be a fighting champ instead of a cheese champion, as he was dubbed when he held the title before. The commission took a hand in the long tangled featherweight championship situation yesterday. They advised Red Chapman, the Boston youngster who has been claiming the title for the past two years, to sign for a match with a good opponent, preferably Benny Bass of Philadelphia, the winner to be recognized as the champion. This is the first time that the commission has sanctioned a bout between two contenders with the winner to be declared champion, but as Johnny Dundee, the retired featherweight champion, said he did not care to make 126 pounds, the class limit.

Commissioner Farley thought this would be the only way to clear up the whole mess. Humbert J. Fugazy will probably promote the match. TWO FOR DOEG John Doeg won his first and round matches in the Metropolitan turf court tennis championships at the Crescent A. i i James A.
