Complete 5 'f ''ti S22S far $149 SjT This picturesque stone bridge constructed with glacial boulders found in the immediate vicinity replaces the old wooden span in the Brooklyn Botanic garden. It is the gift of a visitor, who saw the wooden bridge at the spring inspection last year.

The value of a definite plan of development has been again demonstrated by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Proof of this value, according to Dr. C. Stuart Gager, director of the Garden, lies in the new boulder bridge, constructed with glacial boulders, which has just been completed at the Garden and which spans the brook on the main pathway leading to the laboratory building. The bridge, like the rose garden, is the gift of an individual interested in helping the Garden fulfill its plans.

It replaces an old Wooden bridge which the donor passed over last year at the spring inspection. While doing so, she asked Dr. Gager if the bridge were the permanent type of bridge for the Botanic Garden. Dr. Gager answered a decided no and added that if she cared to, she might see the plans for the projected bridge which would be built as soon as there were funds for it.

As the result of this inquiry and the viewing of the plans, the visitor told Dr. Gager that she would be glad to contribute the money, anonymously, for the new bridge. A similar occurrence brought about the rose garden, when Dr. Gager mentioned it as one of the Garden's needs in an annual report. It was this report and a subsequent viewing of the complete plans for the rose garden which led Walter V.

Caparn, landscape architect of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, has made, at Dr. Gager's suggestion, complete designs for all proposed developments.
