(AP) A woman charged with robbing a Wichita bank after turning her four children over to juvenile authorities says she's been running since January from two men she says are trying to kill her, police said.

Her flight ended Monday when she was arrested and charged with robbing a branch of the Union National Bank. Police said all of the $1,392 taken from the bank was recovered. Minutes before the robbery, Phyllis Mundy had taken her children, who range in age from 1 to 10, to the juvenile division of Sedgwick County District Court and asked that they be placed in state custody. "She said she didnt have any money to feed the children and couldn't get any financial assistance from anybody," said Judge Robert Morrison, head of the juvenile court. She told police later that her husband had been killed in Vietnam.

Mrs. Mundy was arraigned on the bank robbery charge Wednesday and held in lieu of $1,000 bond. Her children remain with juvenile authorities. Police said she gave them this account: In December 1976, she began dating a man in her hometown of Richmond, Va. One of his neighbors subsequently was involved in a Richmond bank robbery and FBI agents interviewed Mrs.

Mundy about her boyfriend's possible involvement in the robbery. Spokesman Michael Ripton said the commission maintains historical markers along roadways and streets in every county. There are approximately markers now standing and more are planned every year. But some of the markers have fallen into disrepair or have been damaged by vandals. The commission will fix damaged monuments, but needs to know where they are. Information on the repair program is available at the Bureau of Historic Sites and Properties.
