We do a strictly cash business, both in baying and telling, Our idea of business is that the capital invested should bear a justrate of interest, and our labor given in the care and handling of the business properly compensated. Our business has MtTiftiod that proportion that we can use quantity enough to buy from the manufacturer. Smaller concerns that cannot use cases of a kind must buy from a jobber. The difference between the manufacturer 1 and the jobber's price is at least and frem that up to Thit difference saved to us, ami tbe cash discount of from 2to 7 per is all the profit we want to make. Some time ago we bought from a manufacturer a line of woolen dress goo.ls at tbat we retailed here in Los Angeles for When we wee all sold out and de sired to duplicate, the manufacturer informed ns that lie bad closed out tlic entire line to E.

S. Jaffrey one of the largest jobbing bouses in New York. Anxious to continue the sale of these goods, we bought IS packages of them at a close price, and paid Sflc. for advance of lifT, over what we paid first hands for them. We cite this incident to show the biddan cause of the People's Store's popularity as a cheap house to trade with.

Anybody else in this market I hat had happened to purchase these goods at 36c. and run against our 35c. pile, would think that we were losing money, selling goods at le. per yard less than they cost. The People's Store Doesn't lose money.

It is constantly making money, slowly but Btirely and the coming year will show you how, slowly but surely, we will double the large trado we now enjoy. The more business we do tbe more goods we sell and tbe cheaper we sell them. In our new store of (10 feet, tho expense of running will only be one-third more, while we cover nearly twice as much ground. We bad seriously contemplated opening branch stores in San Diego and elsewhere, for the sole purpose of running off a hundred thousand dollars' worth more merchandise, to enable us to purchase large quantities of goods to still greater advantago; but, believing that in unity there is strength, and enlarging our business at home and devoting our united ellbrts ami attention, we could accomplish that end bere, we are in a position to sell tbe major part of our goods at the prioe paid for tbem by smaller dealers, and at the utmost a trifle more. We shall be entirely without Petition.

We intent! to sell goods cheaper than we ever have heretofore, and when it happens a year hence thatwegive you an outline of our business intentions, enlargement, our words will be verified. The public will say that The Peoples Store oi all Stores is the Place to Trade at. We are not picayimish, small or arbitrary in our dealings. We are bere to please and give satisfaction. If perchance you have purchased something tbat is not to your entire satisfaction, we are always willing to exchange, to please and, if in our power, satisfy.

We do not cry, a bargain is a bargain. We want a customer, not for a day, but one for all time during our commercial existence. We enjoy all tbe advantages of prominent and successful merchants money and unlimited credit. We understand our business thoroughly; are contented with a less ratio of prolit than any other house in town, and have the greatest facilities. How then can it be otherwise than foremost in success.

In our Dress Goods Department We include Silks, Satins, Velvets, Plushes and Dress Goods. We carry beyond question the largest and best line suited to the generality of persons. It is the place to get the most goods for tbe least money. Our Domestic Department Is evidently the most popular in town. It is constantly crowded, and our efforts will be directed towards keeping it so.

We have splendid values in Scotch and Irish linens, napkins, towels, linen sheeting, brought direct from the manufacturers in llelfast and Glasgow. Our comforter and blanket stock has met with a hearty endorsement. Boys' Clothing. We needn't say much of it. Our business in this department is remarkable.

With this department wo embrace: Jerseys, shawls, gossamers and parasols. MEN AND BOYS' HATS AND CAPS. LADIES', CHILDREN AND BOYS' BOOTS AND SHOES. GLOVES AND PERFUMERY. MILLINERY.

BUTTONS AND THREAD. NOTIONS, FANUY GOODS, AND SMALL WARES. LADIES' MERINO AND MUSLIN UNDERWEAR. CORSETS AND HOOPSKIRTS. HOSIERY LACES, AND EMBROIDERIES.

All are distinct and separate departments of our business, in all of which you will find special bargains every day. You can buy a bill of goods throughout our stores and in the whole you'll save at least 25 per cent, more than any where you can purchase. People Patronize the Man who Sells the Cheapest, Quality and quantity considered. The public are the judges, we claim their patronage on that score. No. 275 Nortb main Street, Next to Diamond House, Los Angelea, Cal. Medicated Inhalations used in all iliaeases of the Head, Throat aud Cheat. CONSUMPTION. The following are prominont lv the first stage, and wherever any of tlieni exist a thorough examination shou always be made, with a view to arrest the dls -ase if showu to exist: There Is ally a sense of weariness upon a little ex else, a disposition to remain passive a idle, despondency, often from uo apparent cause, a peculiar sensitiveness to the effect of cold, aud a breathlessne-s upon moving quickly or deceuding a hill or stairs, a slight, hacking cough, with or without expectoration, excitability upon slight occasions flying pains through the chest or back, or under the shoulder blades.

The symptoms are most noticeable toward or during the night; slight fever iv the afternoon; cold feet and hauds, or iv many cases blue llvid- Ity of the lips and roots of the finger nails. Constitutional or tubercular consumption Is a common form of lung disease. The progreHS is slow, but if left to itself no less sure It usually begins with a dry cough. At first these tubercules are exceedingly minute, the patient not at all suspeoting their presence. Gradually they develop into more active disease, and theu follows the train of symptoms which leaves no doubt as to its true character.

Sometimes spitting of blood or slight streaks in the mucus Is the first 1 udicntlon of tubercular deposit or it may be a chilly seusatiou In tho-back followed by more or less heat lv the palms of the hands, or an afternoon Hush on the tbe cheeks. The slow and gradual inroads of this form of consumption leave the ach aud appetite undisturbed for a considerable time. Fiually, however, hectic fever anil night sweats, supervene, preceded by diarrhoea. Then the loss of flesh and strength becomes rapid, the chest contraon, the features sharpen, the eye attains an unusual brilliancy, and the patient begins to realize that he is in the last stage of confirmed constitutional consumption. Persons desiring treatment ny this system of practice can use the remedies at home aa well as at our office, and which will cause uo inconvenience or hindrance to business whatever.

I have scon so many of these cases cured that I do not consider auy oaso hopeless unless both lungs are seriously involved. Even then the inhalations aid us in dissolving the mucus and in contracting and healing the cavities, which nothing else cau do with the Bame success. The very best reference from those already cured. CONSULTATION FREE. Those who desire to consult with me in regard to their cases had better oall at the office for consultation and examination bnt If impossible to do so can write for a coot of my Medical Treatise, containing a list of questions.
