We have been in finned that a mad dog was killed in the precincts of this city yederday, after having bitten two or three perfoni and feveral cows. As the feafon is coming on when that dreadful dif eafe, the dydrophobia, more commonly prevails among the canine race, we ha ft en to lay before our readers the following account of a remedy which has every Appearance of being effectual. Evening Post. STATE OF NEW YORK. Comptroller's orrice.

Purfuant to the direction of an act, entitled, An aft for granting a compenfation to John M. Crous, for difcovering and publifhing a cure for the canine pa fled the 20th day of February, 1806, I do hereby certify, that the faid John M. Crous hath this day depofitcd in this office a certain writing, purporting to be the remedy ufed by him with certain fuccefs for more than twentytyears pad, for the cure of the hydrophobia or canine madnefs which writing is in the words and figures following, to wit. 44 Cure for the Bite of the Mad Dog." The following it an account and prefcription of a cure for the dydrophobia or canine madnefs, made by John M. Crous, in conformity to an act of the le giflature of this Itate of New York, pafTed in their prefent feffion, vis 44 1ft.

Take one ounce of the jaw bone of a dog, burned and i ulverizc'd, or pounded to fine dull. 2dly. Take the falfe tongue of a newly folded colt let that be alfo dried and pulverized 3dly. The one fcruple of the verdigreafe, which is railed on the furface of old copper by laying in moid earth the coppers of George 1. or II.

are the pureft and bed. Mix thefe ingredients together, and if the patient be an adult or full grpwn, take the common tea fpoonful a day, and fo in pr portion for a oftilsJ reinw A i tr rem nm halt ef tVim rnnrur of the above kind, if to be had if not, then a fmall increafed quantity of any bafer metal of the fame kind th to be taken in a fmall quantity of water. Take next morning fading (or before eating) repeat the fame as before. This if complied with after biting of the dog, or before fymptoms of madnefs, will tffectually prevent any, appeal ance of the disorder; but if alter the fympu.ms appear, a phyfician mud be immediately applied to adminider the following, viz Three di ims of verdigreafe of the kind before mentioned, mixed with half an ounce of calomel, to be taken at one dole. This quantity the phyfkiali peed not fear to adminider, as the re action rif the venom then diffufed th'ough the whole fyftem of the patient, neutralizes confiderably the powerful quality of the medicine Secondly, if in three hours thereafter the patient is not completely relieved, adminider four grains of pure opium, or one.
