It is my intereft that the. land wall be fold for the utmoft price that can be obtained and I earneftlvr defire thatjuftice may be done to every one concerned, but I do not apprehend thefe good effects will arife under the management of Mr. Richard Hopkins, and I therefore object to his interfering in this manner. Vene tian is a fine bay, fifteen hands and an half high, with length and bone in proportion; he was bred by Sir lames Pennyman, bart. of Yorkhire, and got by Doge, his dam by Jennifon Shaftoe Snap, fire of Goldfinder, Gnawpoft, Dafey and other good runners, his grand dam by old Fox; Doge was got by Regulus, fon of the Godolphin Arabian, his dam by Crab, his grand dam by Dyer's Dimple, which was got by Lced's Arabian. Venetian, at five years jold, won the king's plate at Newcaftle, and the fifty" pounds for all ages, the fame week, beating Mr. Fenwick's famous mare Spider Brufher, and feveral others, fifteen days after he won the king's plate at Carlifle, beating lord Surry's famous horfe Bon Mot, and run fecond to High Flyer York.

Anne Arundel county, March 13, 1789. THE fubferiber, in confluence of the generous encouragement he met with from feveral gentlemen, begs leave to inform the particularly thofc that wifh to promote literature, that he propofes opening a SCHOOL on the firft day of April next, in a commodious houfe, appropriated to that ufe by Mr. Henry Hall, near the Governor's Bridge, in which will be taught the GREEK and LATIN LANGUAGES on the mod modern and approved plan, now extant, at the rate of feven pounds per annum. His pupils will give fpecimens of their progrefs by two exhibitions annually. He Batters himfelf that by his affiduity and unremitting attention, he will merit and perpetuate the cfteem of all his employers, W3 HUGH MAGUIRE.

N. B. BOARDING may be procured here on good terms. Purfuant to the laft will and teflament of captain JOHN EDEN, late of Saint Mary's county, deceafed, will be SOLD, at PUBLIC SALE, on Wedncfday the I cth of April next, at Chaptico, if fair, if not the next fair day, for ready MONEY or TOBACCO, the following property, belonging to the eftate of the aforefaid deceafed, viz. FOUR NEGROES, confifting of a woman, a boy and two children alfo a STILL, a DESK and BOOK CASE, and a few BOOKS; likewife two TRACTS of LAND, lying in Saint Mary's county, within two miles of Chaptico, one of which containing about 1 8c acres, and the other about 70 acres.

All thofc indebted to the late captain Eden, are re quefted to make immediate payment, and thofe having claims againft the eftate are once more defired to bring them in legally proved, to wj MARGARET EDEN, Executrix. 7 CHARLES LLEWELLIN, Executor. ALL perfons having claims againft the eftate of Mr. JOHN JOHNSON, late of this city, de cealed, are requefted to bring them in properly authenticated, and thofe indebted to the eftate are moft ear neftly called on to make immediate payment to the fubferiber, that he may be quickly enabled to difcharge the claims againft the eftate. The very great indulgence which the debtors generally have experienced from the deceafed, will, I hope, induce many to pay the proper attention to this advertifement thofe who neglect may depend that fuits will be inftantly inftituted againft them to November court, without refpcfl to perfons. WE, the fubferibers, appointed by the honourable the chancellor of this ftate, under and by virtue of an aft of the general aiTembly, pafled at the laft feffion, to adjuft the claims againft ANTHONY STEWART, formerly refiding in this city, but now in Nova Scotia, and to make a dividend of the produce of his eftate among his creditors, which was confiscated and fold for the payment of his debts, do hereby give notice, that we have given fecurity for the due performance of the faid truft, are ready to enter upon the execution thareof, and to receive the applications of all perfons interefted and we do requeft all perfon or perfons having in their poffeflion any books or accounts of the faid Anthony Stewart, to give information thereof as foon as poflible. For SALE, By the fubferiber; appoihted truftee by the honourable1 the chancery court of Maryland; THAT well known ferry at Rock Hall, lately occupied by Mr. BASIL NOIEL. There it on the premifes a good framed houfe, 36 feet fquarc; four rooms on the lower floor, and three lodging rooms, with four fire places, with a pafiage through the houfe, and good dry cellar, with a partition therein there is a good kitchen adjoining the dwelling houfe, by a very convenient fummer room, that haa two corner cupboards and feats around the fame the kitchen is lathed and plaiftered, with convenient rooml above flairs, finifhed for lodging waiters and gentkmcu'a fcrvants. There is a ftable with a paved floorj and Carriage houfe adjoining, a negro quarter, meat houfe, a good com houfe, hen houfe, blackfmith's fhop, and a convenient warchoufe, at the landing, with a pailcd in garden, and a young peach orchard. There is a goo.i well of water in the yard, and a fpring within thirty yards of the houfe.

There is belonging to the above property 1 50 acrel of land, half of which is cleared and under good fences, divided in fields, and two lots of fix or eight acres each, adapted to clover or timothy. From its public fituation it is well known to poffefs every advantage that can be expected from keeping a tavern and ferry acrofs the bay to Annapolis and Baltimore town; it is remarkably healthy; the waters abound with good rock fifh, perch, crabs, oyfters, and in their feafon, a qantity of wild fowl. The fale to be made, on the jjremiles by public auction, the 12th day of May, if fair, if not the firft fair day thereafter. 6w JAMES RINGGOLD; March 31, 1789. Calvert county, January 22, 1789.

OMMnTED to my cuftody as a runaway, the 6th inft. a NEGRO FELLOW, Who calls himfelf CHARLES, and fays he belongs to RICHARD MILLINGTON, of Talbot county and has been run away about eighteen months he is five feet nine inches and an half high, flout made and of a yellow ifh complexion. His mafter is defired to pay charges' and take him away. J0HN SKeriff DANCINGSCHOOL LOUIS ROUSSELL, RESPECTFULLY informs the ladies and gentlemen of Annapolis, that he intends to open his" SCHOOL on Friday the 17th of April, for the pur pofe of perfecting young ladies and gentlemen in the branches of that ufeful and becoming accomplifhment he will teach immediately the following dances fuch as le minuet audinaire, with par graue, la minuet de la cour, with the gavat allemonde, perigourdine, hornpipe, country dances, cotillons, with proper fteps. Thofe who pleafe to honour him with their commands may depend he will exert his utmoft endeavours to merit their approbation.

The hours of attendance will be from ten to twelve in the ntorning and from four to feven in the afternoon, of Friday and Saturday. Mr. RouiTell begs leave to allure the public, that at tendance and affiduity may be relied on and die great eft regard will be paid to decorum. N. B.

He purpofes to attend private families, and to pay the greateft attention to good order and regularity towards the pupils Committed to his care, wj Annapolis, March 19, 1789; CARELESS, STANDS this feafon at Strawberry. Hill, and covers at three dollars a mare, and half a dollar to the groom if the is fent with the mare, or at four dollars a mare, and half a dollar to the groom, on ere' dit, or at two barrels of corn and three millings and nine pence to the groom provided the corn is delivered before the firft day of June next, at Strawberry.
