Mary MacLaren baa been en Raged to play with Doug. Fairbanks in "The Three Musketeers." IT- -TRUCK. ANCIENT HISTORY BACKGROUND FOR A ROYAL LOVE STORY THE QUEEN OF SHEBA." Produced by Fox. Presented the Lyric Theatre. THE CAST The Queen of Sheba.

Crane By McELLIOTT.

It is not unreasonable to suggest that Mr. William Fox, having shed effulgence on the page in history that is the Queen of Sheba's, be regarded in the light of a benefactor, at least to that large majority of the public, the moviegoers. All of you know, probably, that she was great in beauty and charm; that she was beloved of Solomon, the wise and beyond that oblivion. (Probably, I say, not wishing to tread heavily on uncertain ground.) You will know much more of her if you happen into the Lyric one of these nights. That she wed and slew a wicked king, Armud, to avpree her-sister and all the maids of Sheba; that she lived all her life unwed for love of King Solomon, and that she sent young David, her son and his, as a precious envoy to the court.

The film is in two parts and presents a swiftly moving, gracefully velded story. I can think of several places where it might have been ended with much more telling effect than with the rather dragged out finale it now boasts. But the illusion is, for the most part, complete as to storied glory and the panoply of an ancient court. Chariot races and thousands of busy extras darting about with spears aid this illusion. Miss Betty BIythe, elevated from the realm of inconsiderable movie drama and comedy, is an unde niably beautiful and a surprisingly youtntul queen.

fcfle makes you think little of one of the gorgeous Follies girls any one of them when she trails about, clad simply in nineteen ropes of pearls and some georgette crepe; but usually you think of her only as of a tragic young ruler whose star somehow has been pitiably ciouuea. Frit Leiber is a mournful and lined Solomon, making it a trifle difficult to explain his enormous attraction for the besought Sheba; and a large eyed little boy, Pat Moore, makes young David's child fears very real and piteous. History, screened or otherwise, may not be the kind of back you would choose for your entertainment, but as the subtitle editor of this discriminatingly re-i rnarks. in other words than these, tt a mighty good lpy, 6tory Dallas Welford in Cast Dallas Welford. comic butler de Straus operetta, "The Last Walta." a jrri (iarmfcrtf.i wot iha Splendid, Up-to-Date, New PLAYER PIANOS We give you the opportu nity to hear several reliable makes side by side as low as Bench, Cover, Cartage, 12 Rolls of Music Included EASY MONTHLY PAYMENTS Our stock of Used Pianos and Player Pianos is beyond compare.
