He led the medical education planning group that spearheaded the campaign to establish and initially fund Wright State's medical school, as well as its school of nursing. Dr. Conley left Wright State to serve as the first lay president of Seton Hall. In 1982, Dr.

Conley was named president of the Cincinnati-based Union Institute, where he was instrumental in the growth and development of the private university. His is survived by his wife, Doris; one son; two daughters; and five grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Robert T. Conley Scholarship Fund at The Union Institute. Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 12, 1999, In Eaton. Daniel was born on November 22, 1978, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, in Fairborn, Ohio, to Robert and Barbara (Anderson) Gambrell. He attended Preble Shawnee and Edgewood High Schools and was employed as a laborer at Anderson Pallet Company in Lewisburg, Ohio. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, In Trenton, Ohio. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Robert and Shirley Gambrell, of Beavercreek, Ohio; his mother and step-father, Barbara and Dennis Rogers, of Gratis, Ohio; brother, Brain Gambrell, of Eat on, Ohio; step-brother, Dennis (Misty) Rogers, of West Elkton, Ohio; step-sister, Christina (Jeff) Rickard, of Gratis, Ohio; grandparents, Myron and Betty Goodwin, of Seven Mile, Ohio, and John and Mildred Hangbers, of Seminole, Florida; step-grandparents, William and Margorie Rogers, of Camden, Ohio; his girlfriend, Jamie Goins, and her son, Austin, of Eaton, Ohio; and many aunts; uncles; cousins; and friends.

Funeral services for Daniel Gambrell will be held on Wednesday, March 17,1999, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Southern Baptist Church, 35 N. Liberty Camden, with Rev. Greg Jackson and Rev. Raymond Rothwell officiating. Visitation will be on the C.

Robert Conley was the founding dean in the chemistry department. Robert T. Conley, Ph.D., president of -the Union Institute in Cincinnati and former professor of chemistry at Wright State University, died March 9 of an apparent heart attack at his home in Blue Ash. He was 67. Dr.

Conley was a graduate of Seton Hall University, where he received his bachelor's degree, and Princeton University, where he earned his master's and doctoral degrees in chemistry. He spent 1967 to 1977 at WSU, where he served as a professor and founding dean in the chemistry department, vice presi-; dent and director of planning for health OBITUARY Former Third National VP Joseph F. MELKE, Ruth A (Roemhildt) 96, died peacefully on March 13, 1999, at Upper Valley Medical Center after a long life and short illness. She was born to Ida and Emil Roemhildt, in Dayton, in 1903, and was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll, in 1958. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Jean Hayos and husband Robert, El Segundo, and Harriette Walters and husband William, with whom she resided in Bethel Township, Miami for 35 years. Six grandchildren, Linda Min-ard, Richard Geithman, both in Karen Watts, Jody Schelb, Steven Walters, Tipp City, and Donald Walters, Piqua; seven great-grandchildren. Ruth was a graduate of Steel Highschool and the Dayton Art Institute.

Charter member of Tippecanoe Senior Citizens and the Vally Arts and Crafts, Tipp City, and the Merrymakers Club in Kettering. Gettysburg Ave. KLEINIIANS, Louis Age 96, passed away Saturday, March 13, 1999 at OakCreekTerrace. Born Oct. 15, 1902 In Dayton, Ohio to Gustaf and Sophie (Altmyer) Kleinhans. He graduated from Stiver's High School In 1920.

He was a member of the Masonic Temple for 78 years and St. John AM, 13. He was preceded In death by his devoted wife of 57 years, Pearl (Stottelmyer) In 1991; and his brothers, Elmer, Edward and Gus. Louis is survived by his nephews, Norman and his wife, Tonl Kleinhans of Dayton, John and his wife, EUI Stottelmyer of Columbus; sister-in-law, Doris Stottelmyer of Columbus; brother-in-law, George Dal Stottl me yer of Chllllcothe. Ohio; and many great nephews and nieces Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m.

on Thursday. March 18 at the Willow View Cemetery. Wagner Ford Rd. In lieu of flowers, contrlbut Ions may be made to English Cocker Spaniel Club of America, co Dayton Kennel Club. The family would like to give special thanks to Kelll France, and all the staff at Oak Creek Terrace.
