She explained color, tones and textures and presented each member with a recipe sheet of basic foods that could be "dressed up elegantly with small additions and used for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a late supper." Mrs. Harry Culp, presi- dent, conducted the business meeting. Reports were given on recent rummage and jewelry sales. Refreshments were served.

Charles Shoemaker. Alcoholism Center Coordinator Will Address Meeting Of WCTU The Beckley Women's Christian Temperance Union's annual covered dish oinner will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 6 p. m. in Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church, PRESIDING w21 be Mars.

Everett O'Neal, president Dr. Kenneth Swank, pastor of the host church, wfll present the invocation and the devotional will be by the Rev. T. M. Waldron, pastor of the Assembly of God Church.

Special music will jbe presented by Miss Karen Loving. SPEAKER for the evening will be B. G. (BiUy) Witherspoon, who is program coordinator for the Alcoholism Information Center at the Raleigh County Health Center. A graduate of East Tennessee State College, Witherspoon lias a B.

S. degree in public health. Before coining to Beckley, he was employed by the West Virginia Health Department. Slides Of Belgium And Holland Shown At Azalea Garden Meet Color slides taken in Belgium and Holland, highlighted the Monday afternoon meeting of the Azalea Garden Club in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

The pictures were taken by Mrs. Carl Umland last spring when she and her husband visited their son and his family in Brussels. FEATURED were Holland's tulips, hyacinths and narcissi and vistas of blooming cherry trees and tulips in Belgium. Many of the pictures were taken in Ghent at the International Flower Show, "Floralia," held every five years. Exhibitors were members of the Common Market countries.

Belgium is the seat of the Common Market, Mrs. Umland said. Mrs. L. M.

Halloran presided over the business session. A dessert course was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Paul B. Earwood, Mrs. M.

C. Banks and Mrs. H. C. Sessions.

Durrance Shows Guest speaker at the November meeting of the Briardiff Garden Club was Mrs. L. T. Durrance. She showed various items of native dress and handicrafts purchased on her recent tour of the South Pacific, and concluded her talk wiifo a program of slides taken in the countries she visited, including Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, the Fiji Islands and the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong.

ABOUT 15 members attended the meeting in the home of Mrs. Donald Hodson on the 4-H Lake Road. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Ira Sopher and Mrs. Robert Gardner.

Mrs. Arthur Goldstein, president, announced completion of plans for planting the triangle at the intersection of Valley Drive North and North Avenue, the club's civic project. Chairman of the committee is Mrs. I. Braxton Anderson.

HORTICULTURE schedules for the 1966 Raleigh County Garden Council flower show were distributed, and it was announced the club will participate in table setting workshops sponsored by the council in preparation for the show. Floyd Minor Jr. have returned to their home in New Jersey after spending several days with her mother, Mrs. Frances Traybor. Other guests for several days were another son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.

Frank Wood of Fort Lee, Va. Mrs Traybor is recuperating at her home after undergoing surgery in the Beckley Hospital, where she was confined for two weeks. Mrs. W. D.

(Granny) Tate das received word that her son, Billy, who is serving with the U.S Navy, and has spent the past seven months serving iboard the USS Destroyer Reeves in tihe South China Seas has returned to his base, Long Beach, Calif. and Mrs. A. E. Manning were his nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs.

Seid Bez of St. Petersburg, Fla, and his sister, Mrs. Mary Walters of Princeton. Mrs Walters accompanied Florida the Bezs to their home where she will spend the winter. They left Saturday.

Episcopal Churchwomen Schedule Annual Fall Bazaar On Wednesday Churchwomen. of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church have set their annual fall bazaar for Wednesday, Nov. 17, in undercroft of die church. Mrs.

DURING November, tihe auxiliary emphasizes membership. The article, part of a program presented by Mrs. Clarence Pierce, chairman, appeared in the October issue of the auxiliary magazine, The National News. Mrs Anderson pointed out that since the inception of the American Legion Auxiliary in 1919, the auxiliary has met many challenges on the local, state and national levels. "MEMBERS HAVE given their time and resources to the execution of its many programs without experiencing compensation in return only the satisfaction of service, and the pride of belonging to tihe largest women's patriotic organization in the world," she said.

MRS. A. F. Bryson, Beckley Veterans Administration Hospital chairman, reported that she and her committee escorted wheel chair patients to chapel the first Sunday in November and assisted with Communion. A Veteran's Day program for the benefit of the patients was held in the hospital auditorium Nov.
