SATURDAY EVENING, HARRISBURG TELEGRAPH DECEMBER 19, 1923 SPECIAL CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS WILL BE GIVEN IN MANY CITY CHURCHES 10 SPECIAL SERVICE AT PINE STREET WUi. Sing, Cantata; Pro grams and Tea Are Announced Christmas Sunday Trill be cele brated in Pin "Street Presbyterian Church with special services tomorrow. The Sunday School service will be held at 9.40. Each department having Christmas exercises. At the morning church service Dr.

C. Waldo Cherry will speak on "The Peacemakers." In the evening church service the Pine Street Quartet assisted by a chorus of thirty voices will give Dudley Buck's Cantata "The Coming of the King." The Christian Endeavor Society will have a Candle Light service at 6.30. Tuesday at 8, the senior department of the Sunday School will have a program including a tableaux of the Nativity, a male quartet, Christmas stories, young. people's vested choir. The entertainment will conclude with the presentation of "White Gifts for the King." A Tuletide tea December 31 from 4 to 6 will be served in the women's and girl's room.

The girls of the church will entertain the girls who arc home from college. will be an informal program. The committee includes: Miss Katherine Cherry. Miss Helen McPhail, Miss Mary Fisher, Miss Sara Farner, Miss JUta Grunden, Miss Sara Jane Tunis. Miss Margaret Keif er.

Miss Eleanor Perkins. The E. H. B. Men's Bible Class of the Pine Street Sunday School, will meet Sunday morning at 8.10 o'clock in the main Sunday School room, instead of in the Boyd Memorial Buidihg, nd at this times the Rev.

Dr. C. Waldo Cherry the pastor will teach the Christmas lesson to the entire school. Annual School Pageant At Stevens Memorial Methodist Church the annual Sunday School pageant will be given to morrow night. Solo members of the regular cljurch choir are assisting in this pageant.

Mrs. John M. En sminger has been in charge of the cast. Handel's oratorio, "The Messiah," will be sung by a chorus of thirty voices at the morning service at Stevens Memorial Church to morrow. The program will include: Tenor, "Comfort Ye," and "Every Valley Shall Be Exalted," John Fisher chorus, "And the Glory of the Lord:" bass, "For Behold, Darkness Shall Cover the Earth; the People That Walked in 1 Darkness," Russell Straw; chorus, Unto Us a Child is soprano, "There Were Shepherds; and lo' the Angel; and the Agel Said; and Suddenly There WasUMrs.

In the morning at 10.45 five girls from the junior department of the Sunday School will sing the famous "Luther's Cradle Song." The juniors are Misses Genevieve and Betty Sarah and Helen Haw beckerand Lida Boyer.

Twigg; bass," Robert McCombs; accompanist, Miss Llsetta Mower; Mrs. A. B. Mower. Annual Candle Service Thr ninth annual Christmas candlelight service will be held at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church at 4.30 o'clock to morrow afternoon when a cantata, "The Story of Christmas," by H.

Alexander Matthews, will be given by the vested choir under the direction of Henry Ward Stephens. At this service the pastor of the church, the Dr. Robert Bagnell, will tell a Christmas story, "The Innkeeper of Bethlehem," by James L. McBride." The regular Christmas service of the church will be held at 11 o'clock to morrow morning when the pastor will preach on "The Meaning of Christ to the World." Children Have Programs Christmas will be celebrated In St. Matthew's Lutheran Church tomorrow at all services.

The kindergarten and primary departments will hold services at 9.45. The pastor, the Rev. G. Z. Stup, will preach on "The Lowly Christ Child." There will be no meeting of the Luther League in the evening, but the league, the young people's department of the Sunday School and members of the orchestra will meet Christmas Eve at 11 at the home of Miss Clarissa Stence, 2343 Logan street, and sing carols to the sick and shutins.

To morrow evening the Junior department, under Miss Clarissa Stence, will give a pageant entieled "Gifts." Stephen's follow: Thursday at 4 o'clock the church, school will hold its exercises; midnight service, at which the choir will sing the traditional carols, and Christmas morning at 11 o'clock a choral celebration with the full choir present.
