TUESDAY. JANUARY 20. 1998 DAYTON DAILY NEWS OBITUARIES -Q1 2 ji LOWERY, Clifford B. Age 67 of Huber Heights, passed away Sunday, January 18, 1998 at Grandview Hospital after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, Florence; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Patri ADDUCCHIO, Patsy Paul Age 68, died suddenly Jan.

18, 1998. He was born in Dayton in 1929 and was preceded in death by his parents, Tobio and Car-mela Adducchio; and sister, Ann Marie D'Amico. He leaves behind his much loved wife and best friend of 43 years, Mary JAMES, Margaret I. Age 86, formerly of Dayton, died Dec. 31, 1997 in Boulder, Colorado.

Mrs. James resided in Colorado since 1987. She was a graduate of Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1932 and retired from Miami Valley Hospital in 1973. Margaret was preceded In death by her husband Hollis N. James, brother William Morris.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Charles Gabbard, Dacono, Colorado and Phyllis and Edward Whltenack; three grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Gursky, Denver, Colorado, Charles J. Gabbard, Frederick, Colorado, Edward L. Whltenack and four great-granddaughters. Memorial service held January 6, 1998 Tri-Town Baptist Church, Frederick, Colorado.

Burial Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Town Baptist Church in memory of Margaret James, P.O. Box 436, Frederick, Colorado, 80530. JEFFERY.M. Carolyn Age 64 of Dayton, passed away Monday, January 19, 1998 at Grandview Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her father William Jeffery mother Velma Moore. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Linda Jeffery of Maumelle, AR; 2 nephews, Scott of Norfolk, Virginia Matthew Jeffery of Clearwater, FL. Also many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. She was employed at the downtown Senior Citizen Center for many years, and more recently in the Customer Service Department at the Dayton Daily News. It was Carolyn's wish that her body be donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at Wright State University School of Medicine.

There will be no visitation. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her, Bishop Adducchio and a large and loving family who will forever remember and celebrate his life. His sister, Mary Brown and husband Melvin; cousin, Clemente Adducchio and wife, Mary, along with Patsy's children, Terry and Mike An-keny, Mark and Bonnie Adducchio, David Adducchio. Lisa and Phil Bennett, Paul Adducchio and fiancee', Janet Franz, Christine and Don Fuerst and his 16 grandchildren mourn their loss and serve as a living tribute to his unwavering selflessness and devotion. He served his family and country for over 37 years as a member and employee of the Ohio Air National Guard and upon retirement in 1986 worked part time for Nord Resources of Centerville until his death.

He was president of the Duronia Social Club, Co-Founderofthel62ndFighterSquadronAssocia-tion, member of the US Air Force Museum and Wright Flyer Associations and dedicated volunteer at Miami Valley Hospital. The family will welcome friends from 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 20th at the Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek Chapel and Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. till 10:30 A.M.

at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 5000 Burk-hardt Road, Riverside, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers and in honor of his commitment to community service contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of Dayton or St. Vincent Hotel.

Age 73 of Dayton, passed away on Sunday January 18, 1998 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a retired tool and dye inspector with GM. He has been preceded in death by his parents Omar and Margaret McArdle as well as his sister Ilene Coleman. He Is survived by his wife: Jacqueline L. McArdle (Good) to whom he had been married for fifty years.

He is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Nancy and Mark Cenky of Lexington, Ohio and one son, David McArdle of Dayton. One sister: Dorothy and husband Bruce Buckey of St. Lucy, Florida. Two grandchildren: NikM and Ryan. Mr.

McArdle was a veteran of the US Army Air Force in WWII. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, January 22, at the Tobias Funeral Home, Belmont Chapel, 648 Wa-tervliet Avenue, with Fr. John Krumm officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.

MILLS, Charles Age 76 of Dayton, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Monday morning, January 19, 1998 at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of the IBEW Local 1579 in Augusta, Georgia. Tuesday, January 20, 1998. I SCEARCE, Geraldine 74, of Franklin, beloved wife of Bassie Scearce, died at her residence surrounded by her family after an extended illness. Mrs. Scearce was a homemaker, being retired In the late 1960's as a cook at Franklin High School. She is survived by her husband of 58 years: Bassie; a daughter and son-in-law: Sharon and Terry Stewart; and son: Kenneth, all of Franklin; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister: Ruby Norvell of Franklin and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Scearce was born in Franklin and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Carlisle. She was the daughter of Sherman and Alpha Thorpe. She worked as a sales clerk for Nellie's Dress Shop in Franklin.

She was a member of the First Church of God in Franklin, Active in Senior Citizens, a 1929 Graduate of St. Helen's High School, and attended Berea College Normal School for Teacher Training. She is survived by 4 daughters, Wanda Kin-caid "Paul" Lee of Middlesboro, KY, Betty C. "Josh" Fisher of South Lebanon, Shirley Y. "Ralph" Cook of Franklin, Margaret A.

Clark of Germantown; 3 brothers, Gerald James Thorpe, both of Dayton, Willis Fay Thorpe of Hudson, 10 grandchildren, Laura Beth Barrett, Rebecca Lee Drinnon, Joshua C. Fay's family will receive friends 12 Noon Thursday until time of service at the funeral home. HARRIS, James K. Born June 29, 1912 in Darrtown, Ohio, died Janu-. ary 16th. He was a member of an early Ohio pioneer family.

His grandfather was one of the first graduates of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, about the time of the Civil War. A later member of the family was Andrew L. Harris, Governor of Ohio in the early 1900's. James' father, James R. Harris, was a well known inventor before World War I.

James was a graduate of Miami University, held a Master's Degree from Columbia University, and was completing work on a Doctorate from Columbia at the time of Pearl Harbor. While at Columbia, expertise in aviation prepared him to facilitate the rapid preparation and distribution of Science of Pre-flight Aeronautics, MacMillan Publishing. This book presented aviation "as a revolutionary world force today and A major war effort, the book was the first of the Air Education Series of the Civil Aeronautics Administration. It was available to all high schools by September, 1942 and was studied by thousands, many of who became pilots, including space astronaut Neil Armstrong. James maintained his interest in aviation through membership and support of organizations such as the Air Force Association Life Member, Airplane Owners and Pilot's Association, Aviation Trail, International Women's Air and Space Museum, and the National Aviation Hall of Fame.

Other memberships include Miami Valley International Trade Association, National Education Association, Ohio Education Association, Oakwood Sister Cities, and the Ohio Cattlemen's Association. For 43 years, James was a superintendent of schools and taught science and aeronautics in southwestern Ohio: 34 years of which were at Northridge High School, Dayton, Ohio. He stressed the importance of understanding the basics of science and keeping up-to-date scientific and technological innovations. His students remember him as a teacher who kept classes interesting and relevant. He owned and operated a farm where he researched and practiced innovative farm techniques including no-till farming, irrigation, solar energy, beef cattle breeding, and farm building architecture.

Survived by wife, Irene Creamer Harris; daughters, Lou Ann Hobbs of California and Janet I. Harris of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers, Robert Harris of Oxford, Dwight Harris of Columbus, and sister, Mary Elizabeth Requarth of Oxford. Services will be private.
