Quarantine Measures Adopted by Vari ous Towns Though Springfield Has Not Yet Acted. The statement that smallpox had made its appearance at Mountain Grove seems to have been justified by reports which come from that city today. Jt is said that a man from Kausas went to Mountain Grove a short time since aud developed a virulent case of smallpox by which, it seems, the community has jbeen contaminated, and many cases of the dread disease have developed. It is reported that the doctor, who attended the lirst sick mail was prostrated by the plasn ml is now dead. how true these statements are can oulv be inferred, as they emanate from the region infected and there is a possibility the rumors may tell a liUle mere than what is really true.

Thk Lkadkr is informed that there are about seventeen eases of small pox in the country and quite a number in Mountain Grove, end it is further stated on good authority that nearly every town in this vicinity except Springfield has quarantined against Mountain Grove" until the alleged pestilence is suppressed. It has been said by citizens today, that if small pox is epidemic in Mountain Grove this place should be protected, though no fear is appre hended. Nervou3 folks, however, think quarantine measures the best policy until the victims of disorder are discharged as cured. There is a lively business being dore in vaccination points, and it is more than likely that there will be a general puncturing; of arms and other members in Springfield in the next few days.
