St. Benedict at Aubumdale in Cordova will take part in Catholic School Week from January 29 through February 5.

and Mrs. Harry Crockett Jr. of Germantown, has been named to the Harding University Dean's List. I le is a senior majoring in English at the private, liberal arts, Christian university located in Searcy, AR. Nine students from cast Shelby County were named President's Scholars for the recently completed semester at Mississippi State University for making a 3.80 or better grade point average.

The students are Michael Alan Davis of Collierville, John Matthew Duke of Collierville, Wade Alexander Gray of Germantown, Michael Keith Harvey of Germantown, James McCravey Morse of Germantown, Alexandras. Olive of Germantown, Mrs and Mrs. Denis W. Miller of Germantown; Christopher Aiuh)ny Palazzolo, a sophomore and son of Mr. and Mrs.

R.A. Palazzolo of Germantown; Buvana Raj anna, a senior and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kothanur Rajanna of Germantown; Kari Joy Sutton, a sophomore and daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Frederick R. Sutton of Germantown; and Kim Nhat Vu, a junior and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pliong Due Vu of Cordova. To earn the I lonor Roll, a student must make a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better in at least 1 3 academic hours.

Louisiana State University has announced the names of students who earned a place on the Dean's List by achieving an academic average of 3.5 or better. The students from the Germantown area include Martye Elizabeth Elfervig of Germantown, Michael Glenn Williamson of Cordova, Scott Martin Strong of Collierville, Tonya Marie Pryor of Germantown, and Victor Raymond Goodin of Collierville. Officials announced on Friday that numerous students from east Shelby County have received University of Tennessee National Alumni Association Scholarships. To become an Eagle, a Scout with the rank of Life Scout must earn 2 1 merit badges and develop and carry out a service project that the benefits the community, all before the age of 18.

Germantown resident Hollen Banner, a junior at Briarcrest winner in the Memphis portion of the Alliance Francais Concours National deFrancais 1994. Ms. Banner composed an essay in French to win the award. Her papers, as well as those of other winners, will be submitted to the Alliance Francais in Washington, D.C. for inclusion in the national level competition.

Germantown residents Punam Chopra, Kanchan Chotrani, Eric at White Station High School, were selectedtorepresenttheschoolinthe 15th annual High School Science Bowl, sponsored by the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society. The event took place at the 1 University of Tennessee at Martin with 24 schools from across the State competing. Four of the White Station students received awards for their knowledge in the areas of general science, biology, and chemistry. Germantown High School will hold a College Planning Night for students and parents on Monday, February 6, beginning at at the school.
