SHIPWRECK SURVIVORS RESCUED HAMILTON, Bermuda, June 11 (BMS) Survivors from a torpedoed ship off the coast of Bermuda told of the rescue of 263 persons who were picked up after tnre har rowing days at sea in lifeboats and landed safely at Bermuda last week. According to those rescued, the submarine wns sighted Monday nicht and sent the fatal charge which blasted their ship shortly after a warning. Two men In the section where the torpedo struck were killed instantly, while 19 oth ers were lost when a lifeboat which was being lowered crashed on an other below.

Much heroUm ws enacted during the rescue, which was carried out calmly and bravely. The survivors reached Bermuda several days later, where they were given food and shelter at the AMKl church. Food and clothing was donated, as well as necessary ar ticles ror comfort by kind Inhabi tants or the town. One woman was among the rescued. She was saved by the heroic efforts of a I Barbados native on his way to join the RAF.
