Mechanicsburg Orioles Win Over Crack Steelton leam At Mechanicsburg Saturday the Steelton All Stars lost to the Orioles, ecore 7 to 4. H. Wrightstone got a poor start but warmed up to real form after the first inning. His support was poor. This was the Orioles fourth straight victory.

The Lemoyne' management announced this morning that another pitcher likely would be signed in a uay or so, as ine scneauic win uc heavier later in the season. The game at Lemoyne Thursday Is the third between Middletown and Lemoyne. Each team has one victory to its credit and a lively game is expected. Winner or Senft likely will twirl. Saturday the Lemoyne team will journey to Lebanon to meet the Leb anon bteei team.

The beauty contest in progress in Lemoyne for tome weeks closed at the festival of the ball club Saturday evening. Miss Charlotte Brunner. winner of first prise, was given a diamond ring. an Miss Arietta Tltzel. voted as the second prize winner was given a prize in money.

West Fart yew League Has Representative Team Ready The three clubs of the West Fair view Twilight League have furnished the West Shore fans with such a good brand of baseball that the officials of the circuit have decided to form a town team from the pick of the various clubs. At a meeting of the officials last Thursday an organization was effected and H. M. Durborow, of West Fair view, and. a former member of the old Susquehanna nine of quite some years back, was selected to pilot the aggregation.

One of the officers of the league, stated last evening that an A No. 1 team is ready to take the field against any first class outfit in this city or district. The following players, considered the leaders in the West Shore circuit, were selected to comprise the team: E. Myers and R. Hoqser.

Fro licks pitching was a big fac tor. He held his opponents to five scattered hits. Harry Beiver's curves were solved in the eighth. Fast and sensational fielding when Halifax had men on bases prevented scoring. The work of the losing team was also creditable.

D. P. and J. Notes Port Royal is again in the lead. Oscar Waltz was back of the plate for Port Royal and played a good game.

Newport won a 12 inning game from Dauphin. Marysville had a great rally in the sixth inning. Klllinger and Craig were big stare tor Duncannon. Challenger, who pitched for Dun cannon, got his bumps. Lemoyne Tournament Inaugurated Saturday The Lemoyne tennis tournament got under way Saturday when three sets of singles were played.

J. Boyd Trctle defeated Paul D. Fettrow in the first match. 6 4 and 6 2. This match was hard fought throughout both sets.

Trostle led in game points only by a margin of eleven points, showing how close the contest was. Trostle led Fettrow by four game points in the first set and seven game points in the second set. Earl M. Baker defeated Howard Neidig in the next match, 6 1 and 6 2. PauJ Smith won over Paul Gerber in two interesting sets, 6 3 and 9 7.

The last set of this match was hard fought and closely contested. CARL FISCHER IS CHAMPION Philadelphia, Aug. 2. Carl Fischer, of Philadelphia, yesterday became middle states champion by defeating Dr. P.

Penbrook Tennis Stars Hang Up Good Scores in Tournament Series Saturday was another big day in the Penbrook Tennis Club tourna ment. Perhaps the noat interesting match of the entire day was in men's singles when F. Novinger defeated Umholtz 7 6, 6 2. It was only after the latter had run up the score in the first set to 5 2 in his favor that Nov. inger showed his true form and accuracy.

He then easily won five straight games and gained the first set. The second went to Novinger also without any extended effort. In a second match of men's singles Mikle easily held the whiphaud ever H. Wagner and won out 6 2. 6 1.

cre men's doubles match In which MiKio and Ford opposed Rodgers and Wag ner and which the umpire stopped because of lateness when the score in sets stood at one all last Tuesday evening was completed. Mikle and 'Ford won the decisive set And thus the scores stand 6 3, 3 6, 6 2. Senft and Beck are expected to get together in their match for a position in the semi finals, either to day or to morrow. This match should attract many spectators to the courts. because both men are playing an ex ceptional grade of tennis.

1. Six men were killed and six others in jured, three seriously, when a tram way car cable, slipped out of the swivel late Saturday at the Schuyler Doyle Shale Company's plant the car plunging 3,000 feet to the floor of the gulch. The Shale plant tram line is built on a seven per cent grade, and the men had just started from the plant to the vaUey when the cable parted. The Moose will have Bol er, Keller and Menear on hand and this aggregation has given notice that the game to night will be a thriller. Motive Power Strong Motive Power Is showing a pace that must be considered. The team is moving in arood order and every player is out for the best he can show. The game on Saturday with Lemoyne in which Motive.

Power won by a score of 6 to 4, showed that Manager Householder's boys are pulling to Kether. To morrow the railroaders meet the Commonwealth and this too wilt be an important struggle. Should Moose lost to night and Motive Power win to morrow, it will mean that West End will have another aggregation to put out of the running later in the week. The attendance at the game Saturday was very encouraging and it is planned to have the best attractions possible every Saturday afternoon on the West End field. This means something doing: every week day for local fans.

"Suskies" Lose Game to Mechanicsburg A. A. Team At Mechanicsburg Saturday the Susquehanna nine of the Central league of this city went down to defeat by the score of 4 to 3. Sharp, of the locals, hurled great bait, allowing but four safe hits and fanning six batsmen. However, he was given ragged support.

Hennen, the winning moundsman, struck out thirteen of the Suskies, and although ten hits were made off his delivery, he kept them well scattered. WEST SIDE JUNIORS WIN The West Side Juniors of Steelton, defeated the Steelton Juniors Saturday afternoon in a frame which decided the junior championship of the steel town by the overwhelming score of 12 to 5.
