Views Of Our Readers THE PROPOSED SHRIXE Never in my life have I been confronted with such a decision. A decision to take on the clergy of one of the greatest Christian religions on the face of the earth. I. as a Catholic, feel a deep necessity to show the lay people of this faith the true proposal in question. My thoughts on this proposed shrine are as follows: 1.

How can the clergy justify the use of the term "shrine" in conjunction with the names of our great missionaries and proposed saint to draw people for the basic motive to make money in a business would have to rationalize a great deal to permit such a gimmick. 2. I wonder what these humble priests and proposed saint would say if they were alive and able to see their names exploited in a business venture such as this. What an insult to their integrity 3. Since our zoning laws do not permit such a structure in any sense of the word, how then are they going to bypass or change the Jaws affecting the construction of this observation tower.

We. the taxpayers of this community, just paid through the nose for these laws to be drawn. I was told it would be almost impossible to change them. Of course, I am not constructing a I shrine of historic and cultural value. 4.

On the sale of bonds to finance the structure, which incidentally was announced in church last Sunday; a good corporate bond of AAA rating only pays about WX, How then can these bonds pay 6 per cent on a non-business venture other than a government operation. 5. It also is very nice in this business community to operate without paying taxes on land, building, equipment and guess what no income taxes. It's a pretty good deal when you are in competition with another like business. 6.

When are they going to start pilgrimages from all over the county to see the shrine, or the view from the top of the tower. Let me say I am sorry that 1 had to write this article to expose this scheme. Somebody had to show it for what it really is, in its entirety.
