farmers Told Status Of Grain Case Awaits Audit RUSSELL Farmers with claims against the Lucier Ele- 'vator, Waldo, and Dorrance Grain Company, Dorrance, won't be able to collect until a complete audit of the firm's books is completed. That was the word of Richard M. Driscoll, Russell, federal receiver of the two firms, appointed by Federal Judge Delmas C. Hill. Firms Closed The two grain firms, both operated by James Luder, were closed recently when an alleged shortage of 13,000 bushel of Commodity Credit Corporation grain was found.

Farmers from Victoria, Wilson, Paradise, Covert, Natoma, Osborne, Sylvan Grove, Waldo, Russell, Luray, Bunker Hill and Dorrance attended the meeting. Driscoll, explaining complicated facts in the case, said federal authorities will not do anything until an audit is completed. It is due to start Dec. 16, he said, and will take about 10 days to complete. Russell County Attorney Robert Dole told the group he talked with William Farmer, U.S.

district attorney, and Farmer said he would not know the status of the claims until the audit is completed. No Date Set Farmers were not given any tentative date when they can expect, to receive payment for their grain. Nor were they given any indication as to how much of their.claims they might receive.
