RHYTHM PROFILE By Samara Kalk In a short bio that Brian Wild titles "The Life of Brian, the actor-director-playwright-composer says he was born in Superior but grew up sort in Wausau, where he attended Wausau West High School.

He got a bachelor's degree in communications from UW-Stevens Point in 1990 and "promptly moved to Madison that same year. In college he acted in several shows and played in a local band called After You, for which he began writing original music. Wild became hooked on theater in 1992 when he acted in Broom Street Theater's "Bon Voyage, Brendan." Only once, since then, has he stepped out of Broom Street to act in another theater company's show. Wild has acted in 13 Broom Street productions and was the composer and musical director for Callen Harty's "The Legend ofPinkbeard: Pirate of Men. His first production as a playwright-director was "Tales for a Millennium" in 1997.

He has since done "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Dying" (1998) and "Pippi Long Stalking" (1999). He is now working on "Sex Kittens From Mars, which opens Friday at Broom Street. The play features 10 original songs by Wild and a cast of 19. In one way or another, Wild said he has been involved with 24 Broom Street productions, whether it's sound and light design, composing original music or even doing some poster and program design. Aside from theater, Wild said he enjoys the "company of friends, pop culture, collecting comic books, good thought-provoking movies and television shows, listening to my eclectic music collection" and spending time with Harty, his partner mofnine years, and their two cats, Jazz and Stinky.

Wild plans on doing a sequel to will sing and dance their way through this pop culture satire, which concludes that sometimes, no matter what the cost, we must all fight for what we believe in. Cast members include Broom Street veterans Robert Moccero, John Gustafson, Buck Hakes, Scott Feiner, John Harmon, Brad Knight, Callen Harty, Clare Sor-man, Liz Vickerman and Raun Norby. Making their Broom Street debuts are Portia Adney, Sarah Barasch, Jenny Bryers, John Hi-chelaub, Kelly Flemming, Chris Gavin, Carrie Gehin, Linda Hartay and Janelle Schroeder. "Sex Kittens From Mars" will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday through Sept.

Nadine Goff Fans of Brian Wild have been waiting a long time for the debut of his first full-length musical, and now their patience is finally being rewarded. Ten original songs by Wild will be featured in "Sex Kittens From Mars," a screwball sci-fi musical comedy written and directed by Wild that has its world premiere at 8 p.m.

Friday at Broom Street Theater. The plot revolves around Capt. Thomas Dallas, who is heading back to Earth, accompanied by his two android companions, Butch and Queen, after a five-year diplomatic mission to the stars. Suddenly the trio finds itself embroiled in a civil war on Mars that is being fought by the ruling class Cateni-ans and a mysterious group known only as the Monsters. Nineteen actors, clad in eye-popping costumes created by Ernestine Vanderlin and Raun Norby, Brian Wild serves as playwright-director and composer for "Sex Kittens From Mars," which opens Friday at Broom Street Theater, 1119 Williamson St.

The screwball sci-fi musical comedy explores the nature of love, sex and "what it means to love and trust yourself." It will run at 8 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until Sept. 3. "Tales for a Millennium" in 2001 and a play about the first gay president of the United States. "I have no intention of leaving the Madison area for 'bigger and better Wild said.

"Too often people believe that the measure of someone's success is how rich they are, or how well known they are on a national level. This is a very dangerous belief system for our society to have and can only lead to the destruction of all artistic integrity in our culture(s), he said.
