THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6, 1956 STATESVILLE RECORD LANDMARK PAGE 7 Belk's Store Has Yule Party Surrounded by the festive decorations of the approaching Christmas season, employes of Belk's department store held their annual Christmas party Tuesday night at Statesville Country Club. Seated at the head table with J. H. Doughton, manager of the store, Mrs. Doughton and their children, Bud and Ginger, were employes who have had the longest years of service with the Mrs.

Nan Gregory, Mrs. Gladys Duncan, Mrs. Annie McLean, Miss Lucy Howard, Mrs. Roseman and Margaret Isenhour. Employes presented Mr.

Doughton a handsome traveling ba J. B. Brawley, head of the men's department, introduced Mr. Doughton and made the speech of presentation. In his remarks of acceptance, Mr.

Doughton expressed appreciation to his employes for their loyalty and for service rendered during his 20 years as managar of the store. Later in the evening, gifts were exchanged by the employes. Miss Howard, head of the store's piece goods department, returned thanks. A four course turkey dinner was served. The dining room was decorated with Christmas greenery and on the table were arrangements of silver and red, with the traditional candles.

MYF Sub- District Meets At Marvin Alexander County's sub-distri1 of the Methodist Youth Fellowship met at Marvin Methodist Church Monday evening. Foliowing devotions, the film, Littlest Angel," was shown and after the film the business meeting was opened by Phil Pharr, district president. Joyce Alexander, the sub-treasurer, read the minutes and called the roll. There were 72 members present, and Marvin Church had a representation of 20 members. Refreshmenta were served after the meeting.

Party Honors Miss Miller Miss Sadie Miller, December bride-elect of Thurmond Chaffin, was honored Tuesday afternoon when Mrs. Donald Sowers was hostess at her home, 629 West Street. Yellow gladioli and bronze chrysanthemums made a lovely setting in the living room and a cornucopia arrangement was on the coffee table.

Guests showered the bride-to-be with miscellansous gifts, and Mrs. Sowers gave her a place setting in her china and a corsage of white carnations that was effective with her after-five dress of ice blue brocaded taffeta. Assistant Agent Rowe McNeely and Mrs. Ted Archer, assistant home agent, gave out certificates and health improvement record books. Films on safety were shown and more club members were urged to take safety as a project for the coming year.
