Elmer Rainow Dies at Age 84 Elmer Rainow, 84, of 1 Monroe Dallas, died Thursday afternoon in Nesbirt Memorial Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Bar re, he resided in Dallas 20 years. He was a member of Dallas United Methodist Church. Prior to retiring he was employed as night watchman at Dorrance Colliery. Mr.

Rainow, was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow, the former Harriett Ann Cave; sister, Martha Rainow, Wilkes-Barre. Funeral will be Saturday at noon from Disque Funeral Home, 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas, -with Rev. Douglas Akers officiating. Interment in Mt.

Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville. Friends may call Friday 7 to 9 p.m. John J. Hazur Dies; Funeral on Monday John J. Hazur, 318 E.

Noble Nanticoke, was found dead in his home Thursday afternoon at 3. Deputy Coroner Earl Lohman attributed death to natural causes. He was born in Nanticoke and was employed 40 years by Glen Alden Coal Company at 'the Wanamie Colliefy retiring in 1956. Mr. Hazur was a member of St.

Joseph's Church, Nanticoke. Surviving are his widow, the former Mary Buffa; son, John, principal of Duquesne Senior High School, Duquesne; daughters, Mrs. Margaret Henderson, New, Jersey; Mrs. Irene Kerdesky, Nanticoke; eight grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; sister, Mrs. Catherine Kotulak, Nanticoke.

Funeral will be held Monday at 9 from the Grontkowski Funeral Home, 51-53 W. Green Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Joseph's Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Saturday 7 to 10 and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 10.

Rosary will be recited Saturday at 7:30. Stanley Zbiek, Plymouth, Dies Stanley J. (Zbieg) Zbiek, RD 1 West Mountain Road, Plymouth, died Friday morning in General Hospital where he was a patient since Oct. 13. He was born in Plymouth and resided there most of his life where he operated a truck farm.

Mr. Zbiek served on the Plymouth Township board of supervisors from 1965 to 1969. He was one of the organizers of Plymouth Township Fire Company No. 1 and was a member OBITUARY 5 Give Rare Blood To Save Man's Life Due to the quick response of five persons from Wyoming County with rare AB-negative blood, the life of a Tunkhan-nock man was saved following an auto accident. Frank Ambrutis, 28, was critically injured when his car was thrown 235 feet across Route 307 at Schultzville, when he veered off the road to avoid an oncoming vehicle, which had crossed into his lane.

Ambrutis was taken to Tyler Memorial Hospital, and within two hours after emergency pleas were sent out, five persons, the only ones in the county to have this rare type blood, responded. Ambrutis is listed in critical condition at Community Medical Center, Scranton. Many people resent being told exactly how to express their sympathy. This is only a natural reaction. They prefer to decide for themselves whether to send make a donation, send a card, extend a helping hand 4r do a combination of these.

Back Mountain Protective Association community service award dinner will be Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m. at Irem Temple Country Club. Rep. Daniel J.

Townships to Get Cable TV Wright and Fairview Townships have been granted a certificate by the Federal Communications Commission for cable television, Wright Township Supervisor Thomas Dugan reported. Dugan said service agreements were completed a number of months ago with Service Electric Cable TV Company, a subsidiary of Teleservice Company, Wilkes-Barre. The cable will carry two New York stations, WOR-TV, Channel 9, and WPIX-TV, Channel 11, an undetermined independent channel and the four local stations, including Channel 44, the public television network. Duryea Pair Files Bankruptcy Papers William and Gladys Milaz-zo, 248 Main Duryea, have filed voluntary bankruptcy petitions in Federal Court. The couple lists debts of $32,730.53 and assets of $23,101. Miss Olive Dodson Is Death Victim Miss Olive T. Dodson, 360 E. 50th New York City, died Thursday in New York. She was born in Town Hill and later resided on Park Place, Kingston, prior to" moving to New York City several years ago. Miss Dodson was a former member of St.

Ste phen's Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre. Suriving is a brother, Osborne, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Town Hill Cemetery. Scranton Fund Drive Misses Scranton's United Fund fell $36,000 short of its $1,576,000 goal Wednesday, despite efforts of volunteers to overcome the gap.

According to general chairman Gerard J. Ferrario, the figure is $40,000 more that last year, but "we just set too high a goal." At the final report meeting at the Jewish Community Center in Scranton, Ferrario called the amount raised "a respectable figure," and indicated his interest in comparing it with what other United Ways across the state do. Secretary Cited By Cancer Society Mrs. Bernice Leonard, a Ha-zleton secretary, was honored for her 19 years of service by the American Cancer Society at the annual meeting of the society's Pennsylvania Division in-Hafrisburg. She last was employed at Retreat State Hospital, retiring two years ago because of ill health.
