Hoyt schools. A Girl Scout leader 41 years she was the founder of Girl Scout Troop 17 of St. Aloysius, Church and previously had been a leader for the Girl Pioneers, a forerunner of the Girl Scouts. Miss Monahan received her 35-year pin in 19,59. She had been a member of the board of directors for Wyoming Valley Girl Scout Council.

She was honored at a "Honor, Your Founders dinner in October, 1960. Active in church and civic af fairs for many years, Miss Mon ahan was a member of St. Aloysius Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She served as the superintendent of St. Aloy sius Sunday School for a number of years and also was a Sunday School teacher at St.

Leo's Church, Ashley. She served as district deputy of the Catholic Daughters of America for several terms and also was grand regent for Court Gate of Heaven, CDA. Surviving are sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Royer and Miss Ruth Monahan, a retired Wilkes-Barre Citv teacher, both at home. William P.

Born in Austria-Hungary, she came to America at an early age and resided in Kingston the list 18 years. She was the former Mary Zubko. She was member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Kingston. Her husband George, died May 10, I960.

John Morris John R. Morris, 74, of 68 Am herst Avenue, died Saturday in Veterans Administration Hospital where he was admitted as a medical patient September ,8. Born in Luzerne, he was em ployed as a foreman for many years at the South Wilkes-Barre Colliery of the Glen Alden Coal Company. He also worked as a machinist for the Pagnottf Coal Company, retiring three years ago. He was a veteran of World War 1 having served as a ser geant in France with Battery 109th Field Artillery.

Mr. Morris was' a member of First Welsh Presbyterian Church, its Ben Li Jenkins Sunday School Class and the Senior Choir. I A member of Lodge 395 of Kingston, he also was a mem ber of Keystone Consistory, Irem Temple," American Legion Post 132, the 28th Division; Post 4, and the 109th Field Artillery Post. A sister, Miss Ethel E. Vivian, died October 18, 1963. Miss Vivian was a member of Forty Fort United Methodist Church and until her retirement in 1944 was employed by Pennsylvania Power and Light Com pany. Lawrence, former resident of Swoyersville. was the victim of a fatal stabbing Thurs day night at his room-in New East Motel, Exeter Street, Baltimore, Md. Born in' Bethlehem, he moved to Swoyersville with his family as a young boy.

He attended Swoyersville schools and served with the Army during World War 2. Mr. Lawrence moved to Balti more following his discharge from the service 20 years ago. John Obraitis John Obraitis died Saturday morning at hit home, 330 Front Street, Hanover section of Nanti coke. Mr. Obraitis was born in Dur vca and resided in Nanticoke the past 70 years.
