Prince, Capt. Bill MADISON Capt.

Bill Prince, age 54, owner and operator of Nordic Diver Great Lakes Charters, (www.nordicdiver.com), unexpectedly of unknown causes while diving in Lake Wazee near Black River Falls on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Bill was born in Madison on Sept. 13, 1953, to Stacer Prince and Amy Shohet. He was a graduate of West High School where he played goalie on the varsity hockey team, built and raced motorcycles, and was an accomplished archer. He was involved in several local businesses in Madison and indulged in many outdoor activities but most of all, he loved boats and the water.

He tried life in Arizona where he lived for 10 years and while there founded Santa Fe Designs, a furniture manufacturing company. He returned to Madison in 1999 to follow his first love: boats and the water. He bought his first charter boat, the Nordic Diver, in 2001, based it in Milwaukee at Jerry's Dock, and began to live his dream to explore the Great Lakes in search of long-lost shipwrecks. In 2007, he bought his second charter boat, the Molly which could travel to distant locations (Lake Huron, Lake Superior and Lake Michigan) for those who wanted these new adventures in diving with Bill. Bill and his soul mate, Jitka Hanakova, spent the summer of 2007 traveling with the Molly taking divers to many known as well as newly found shipwrecks.

In 2005, the program, "Deep Sea Detectives" on The History Channel, chartered Bill and the Nordic Diver to film an episode about the sunken Milwaukee Car Ferry. Bill arranged for Ken Wagner to be on board and in the water as a guide for cast members Richie Kohler (www.richiekohler.com) and John Chatterton. Richie and John had plans to come back this year with Bill to film and explore the German World War I submarine UC-97 off of Chicago. Bill took a huge pride in taking divers where they wanted to go and will be remembered by his great achievements such as the Carl D. Bradley and Aurania expeditions.

Bill was employed by the Mullins Group in Madison and the family is grateful for their many considerations. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind his mother, Amy Shohet (Leon); a brother, Bob Prince (Lori) of Sun Prairie; a sister, Vickie Rojo of Madison; a stepsister, Lena Shohet of Stoughton; two stepbrothers, Zev Shohet (Donna) of Bat Yam, Israel, and Aaron Shohet Kemp of Los Angeles; his uncle, Pat Scherz (Nadine) of Chetek; many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and a grandnephew. "It puts it in more of a historical perspective because there are no longer any living plaintiffs in the Topeka case." CATHERINE MULKERRIN, 72 Nun urged sex abuse warnings By BRUCE WEBER The New York Times Sister Catherine E.

Mulkerrin, who lobbied ardently but in vain to persuade Roman Catholic leaders in the Boston Archdiocese to warn parishioners about priests who had been accused of sexually molesting children, died on Saturday in Framingham, Mass. She was 72 and lived in Brighton, Mass. The cause was cancer, said Sister Joanne Gallagher, a spokeswoman for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston. Mulkerrin first learned she had cancer in 1984, Gallagher said.

Mulkerrin entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1954. Mulkerrin was a leading figure in the Boston order, which included about 1,500 women at its peak and now has just under 500. She reinforced her order's commitment to the poor and spoke out forcefully on behalf of the order against nuclear arms proliferation. "She spent 15 years on our leadership team and six as our president, no easy task among religious women," Gallagher said.

From 1992 to 1994, Mulkerrin worked for the Archdiocese of Boston in its office for victims of abuse. There, she repeatedly urged Bishop John McCormack to warn local parishioners about predatory priests, especially by posting announcements in parish bulletins. As an aide to Cardinal Bernard Law, then head of the Boston Archdiocese, McCormack was in charge of ministerial personnel from 1985 to 1994 and was the official who handled the mounting number of sexual abuse complaints involving priests. Mulkerrin's pleas were never acted upon but became public after she gave depositions in 2002 and 2003 in lawsuits that accused archdiocesan officials of negligence in sexual abuse cases..
