Rowan was seriously injured at North Main and Chapel streets Pittston. when -his pickup trucK was hit in the rear, by a Wilkes- Barre Transit Company bus. He suffered head and back injuries. Pittston police said Rowan was stopped in his pickup truck, lacing soutn on North Main street, apparently waiting to turn left onto Chapel street when, he was hit in the rear by the bus. also traveling south on North Main street.

Bomb resulted in a heavy cloud of smoke in and near the building.

Patrolmen Wilbert Leppert and Louis Mantione noticed the smoke as they reported for duty at 10. Police feared the boiler room was afire and sounded an alarm for the Pittston firemen. Investigation showed ft bomb had peen set off in a basement level men's room near city hall. Police said the bomb appeared to be an M-18 Army type grenade or bomb used by local reserve units. TIL aBVOBCMBBBH Firemen rail To Hear Siren far the slow response to a summons for aid by Dupont firemen yesterday morning was given by Dupont Police today.

They blamed a westerly wind hampered firemen from hearing the siren. Fire which caused slight damage was at Howard Johnson Restaurant, Route 115, Wilkes-Barre Dupont Highway. Dupont Polio Chief Henry Cislo said he was notified by. Pittston police at 4 a storage area at rear of the motel was on fire. A passerby had attempted to contact Dupont Municipal Building, but got no answer and he called Pittston police.

Cislo said he went to the hosa house and sounded the alarm over the fire siren, but no firemen responded. Cislo began to warm up the fire truck while the siren wailed, but no fire lighten answered call. Pittston Township Volunteer Fire Company answered the alarm at 4:30 and Fire Chief John Angelella and five men raced to scene and doused the fire, Cislo said. Meanwhile, Dupont siren con- tinued to Finally, at 4:45, some Dupont firemen took the truck to the scene, but fire was out. The oolice chief said a Civil Defense siren is atop the Municipal Building but Is not used for fires.

He said an older fire siren is used and when the wind blows in the wrong direction firemen cannot hear the sound. Damage was restricted to ma terial in the concrete storage area, Cislo said. Booster lines were used and damage was slight. Door to area was damaged, he said, and cause of fir was not known. Cislo was assisted In directing traffic at fire by Assistant Police Chief George Legezda.

Church Reports Read At Meeting Annual meeting of the congre gation of Grace Presbyterian Church, 317 Race street, was held last night following the Prayer Service. Reports from the various organizations were read. In the ecclesiastical meeting the following were elected: wal ter Meade reelected to the Session of the Church and Miss Roberta Hartman reelected as Missionary Chairman.
