Many Bisbee people will remember the "Quaker doctor" patent medicine combination that worked this city ery successfully a few years ago. Probably no similar aggregation ever did so much business In Bisbee or found so many people who really had faith in their remedies.

The following story fiom the Los Angeles Times tells of the final commitment of one of the so-called "Quaker brethren" to a California asylum and gives a bit of his confession abouthow he fooled most of the people mo'st of the time. The Times says; Edwin Davis. "QjiaKer doctor," is again confined at the, county hospital on an insanity charge. Only two days ago he was allowed to go free by Judge Gibbs and the insanity com-mlslon, on condition that a nurse from the hospital accompany him. His friends were perfectly willing to have a trained nurse, but upon reaching the home place at Long Beach the "Quaker doctor" stood the nuree on hU head, and otherwise playfully dallied with him.

The man was scared out of his wits and Davis was again arrested. At the lime of his examination Dals gave a brief account of his varied adventures He started in life in the theatrical ranks as a comedian and then graduated as a countryside "ora tor" and attended fairs and other old-time forms or entertainment, where he spouted at so much per. After that he became a "Quaker doctor." and as there was a bona fide physician in the bunch he got many pointers, he said. from him. In a short time he did not hesitate to diagnose any complaint anyone in the crowd might be suffering from.

With business good he would diagnose from fifty to sixty cases a day and sell the same medicine as a remedy for all. Davis has a streak of unconscious humor, and In describing his methods as a practicing physician he said that the medicine given has the various forms of "faith cure" skinned a block. It3 merits are practically acknowl- edged by the people who return for more, he said, and the beauty of It all Is that it can be made up for not many cents a barrel jind dispensed at half a dollar a bottle. OCCASION A MUSICAL AS WELL! AS FRATERNAL TREAT TO THEIR GUESTS. Among the visitors in Bisbee this week who are interested in the floating of the Globe Copper are Mr. Wm. Magly and Mr.

Eugene Schaefer, both, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Both gentlemen are prominent In Ohio, Mr. Magly at one time being member of Board of Public Service of Cincinnati, and Mr. Schaefer is a prominent rubber manufacturer. These gentlemen were the big stock holders of the Globe company which held the property that is now worked by the Globe Consolidated Copper Co-and were -prominent In the transfer of the property to the new company.

These gentlemen made a trip to Bisbee last January, when the mud was knee-deep on Main street, and they fully expected to see the city in the same condition this time, but when they stepped from the train and saw the paved streets, they realized the progresslveness of the people of Bisbee. They are both personal friends of Senator Foraker. the staunch friend of Arizona, and Mr. Magly said that he Intended to tell the Senator that he had made no mistake when he made his gallant fight for the autonomy of Arizona. Mr.

Magly said to a representative of the Review that In no place had he ever seen such a progressive spirit displayed as evidenced by the citizens of Arizona in the upbuilding of their territory, and that it would be a great Injustice to deprive such loyal and progressive American citizens of the right of self-government. He witnessed the celebration at Douglas on the 4th of July, and laughed heartily when he saw in th parade the burro with tne jellow streak down his back, representing Tawney, of Minnesota, tho quondam friend of Arizona. When as3ed concerning the political situation In the east, Mr. Magly sald that it was almost certain that Secretary Taft would be endorsed by Republicans for the presidency. These gentlemen will remain In the city for a day or two longer, and will then leave for home, going by way of Califcrnta.

"The prisoners will be taken In a few days to Yucatan, where they will bo put to work on the haciendas with others of their race who have been sent there before them.
