Lelcvler was up before Judge McDonald today on the charge of having thrown waste paper In the street. C. T. Connell Back, Charles T. Connell, Chinese lspector at this point, returned this morning from San Marcial, New Mexico, where ho has been taking the place of a customs official.

Rev. and Mrs F. C. Reid and son, Edward, of Flagstaff, arrived In town last evening to attend the meeting of the Presbytery to be held here this week. Mrs.

Reid is a sister of Rev. George and James Logie. K. P. Grand Lodge.

At the session of the grand lodge of Knights of Pythias, which will be held In Douglas early next month, Jt has been arranged to have several teams from Arizona lodges to exemplify the work in the third degree. Another interesting feature of the grand lodge will be the presence of the Phoenix team to confer the degree on a number of tyros who will be taVen into the confidence and mysteries fthe Knights of Kho-rasan. The local knights are making extensive preparations for the entertainment of the visiting brethren. C. F.

m. If any person doubts tho ability of the bojs to use the privileges offered by the association and are willing to be convinced, wo believe one visit to the building wilt be sufficient. It is with deep regret "that we learn of the loss by flro of tho beautiful building of the Young Men's Christian Association of San Francisco. We have been unable to get any detailed account the loss, and await such information with anxiety. An interesting program has been arranged for the men's meeting on Sunday Selections will be rendered by a male quartet, also an address on Christian Manliness by Mr.

C. Reid. of Flagstaff. All men are invited. The basket ball tournament has but one more game.

This will be played between the Reus and Greens on Monday next. The present standing of the clubs Is Reds, Greens and Whites. Considerable interest is felt In the coming game. Men will find seats in gallery. A seles of basket ball games has been arranged between Bisbee and Douglas teams.

Bisbee will visit Douglas on Saturday, May The lineup of the local team Is: Paxton, center; Booth and Lincoln, forwards; Chamberlain and Fisher, guards; Phil-brick, Rice and Harris subs. The match game with" the bowling team of the Bisbee association has intensified the Interest among the local members In the game The winning of the first game is a source of gratification, but the home team often wins on its own alleys, to lose out when playing on strange alleys. The Douglas team will, by constant practice, put lstelf in fine condition for the next game, and hopes to win. Vagged. Frdnk Wilson was fined $8 on the charge of vagrancy and was sent to Jail today.

DOUGLAS LOCALS. 4- Woman's Missionary Society Woman's Missionary Society of tho Presbytery of Arizona will hold two sessions In the E. church on Satur day, the morning session beginning at iu oclocK, and the arternoon session at 2:30 o'clock. Good programs have been prepared, and all ladies interested are Invited to be present.

A number of delegates from outside points will be here and take part In the sessions. Boy Was Hurt. At the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.

R. Henry, on Twelfth street, yesterday their little boy fell backwards from a chair and cut a bad gash in the back of his head, which struck on a stake In the front yard. The Injury was not serious, but was sufficient to cause a commotion In the neighborhood. The wound bled profusely, and tho lad and his mother were both badly Fined for Fighting. Francisco Rodriguez was fined In the Justice court this forenoon for fighting.

He went to Jail to servo out the fine, being short of funds. Beat His Board. Josefa Medina swore out a warrant today for the 'arrest of Antonio Eunquez on the charge of fraudulently beating her out of a $7.50 board bill. Ash Peak District T. O.

Philips, of Duncan, was in Douglas yesterday, bringing a hundred pound sample of ore from his mines in the Ash Peak mining district in Graham county to the Copper Queen smelter. If this sample gives a favorable return it Is the purpose of Mr. Philips to make some shipments here for reduction. He reports Increased activity In the mining industry in the Ash Peak district where are located some very promising claims. The Ash Peak Mining company has contracted a large quantity or ore for delivery at the Shannon smelter in Clifton.

Mr. Philips and B. B. Adams, the well known Graham county insurance men, have held a group of claims In tho Ash Peak country for a number of years. Recently they organized the Golden Eagle Mining company, with the purpose of developing their properties, from which some splendid shipments of ore were made in the rt.

Pleasant Dance. The Intcrnat'onal Order of Machinists gave a very enjoyable In Ireie hall last oven-leg. The Symphia club furnlshej the music. Hearing Continued. The he-rins of Manuel Angula with attempting to kill his sister, was continued from yesterday afternoon until this afternoon.

Arrested for Stealing Saddle. Jose Chavez was arrested today on the charge of stealing a saddle from V. W. Bush Douglas Special. Col.

Tom Purcell, who has been running passenger on the train out of Douglas, Is out taking care of the special taking Prof. Douglas over the country, and Jim Moulton on the ore train, is taking care of the passenger run. S. French remains quite HI at her home in this city. It was hoped that she would be able to start east on next Monday to join her husband, but it may be that 3he will be further detained here by her Illness. Gone to Phoenix. Dr.

Hickman, James Wood and Chester of Douglas, and Dr. and Mrs. Shine, of Bisbee, left this afternoon for Phoenix to attend a meeting of the Shrin-ers, O. L. Neer, the Sonora mining man, left this afternoon for Los Angeles.

Miss Mary Mullen, a teacher In the second grade, left for Tempe this aft ernoon, where she was called on account of the Illness of her mother nix this afternoon. er, mother of Mrs. Ellis, left for Phoenix thmis afternoon. R. D.

Hall, a mining man from Paradise, accompanied by his wife and son," left for Bisbee this morning, after spending several days in Douglas on a mining deal. Mrs Charles McGlone, who has been tho guest of Rev. and Mrs. S. W.

Jackson for the past few days, left this morning for her home in Paradise. Dr. Shine, of Bisbee, arrived in town this foreaoon on professional business. M. Treese returned this forenoon from Bisbee.

Dr. Lunn, of Oklahoma City, is In town, the guest of Dr. Hickman. Mrs. M.

Lewis, wife of Fireman Lewis of the Southwestern, left this morning for Denver, where she will spend the summer. Engineer Gray, of the Nacozarl passenger train, who has been visiting for several days In Cananea, has again taken his run, relieving Engineer Williams, who went back to the freight service. C. B. Bosworth, agent of the Southern Pacific at Deming, was a visitor In the city this morning and has returned to Bisbee, where he Is interested in some mining properties.

C. C. Fineaut, a mining roan from EI Picacho, arrived in town this fore-coon. W. H.

of the 4-bar ranch, was in town yesterday on business. T. Pellier, a mining man from Mlna, Sonora, Mexico, arrived In town this forenoon. Mrs. Beckwith, of Bisbee, arrived in the city this forenoon to visit her sister, Mrs.

N. L. Sheldon, who has been on the sick list for several days. Charles R. Barry, of Phoenix, spent last night in town on business.

Mrs. H. A. Lusk, of El Paso, arrived in town yesterday on a short visit here. Sam Elder, the contractor, Is in Douglas buying lumber and building material which he requires for important improvements on a ranch In the vicinity of Fronteras, Sonora.

Two carloads of lumber were ordered this morning from the Bassett Lumber company. The first game of the season was played last Sunday by the Clifton and Morenci ball teams, resulting in victory for Clifton by a score of 5 to 3.
