Francis, of Cliillicothc, arrived last week and will spend some timo here. Mr. Francis is the father of the Francis boys, who aro so well and favorably known in this section of Arizona. Inability to secure from tho railroad over a one-yoar lease of some property near the track has discouraged Babbitt Bros, from building the con templated warehouse in the lower end of town. Rev.

Tho programmo outlines Friday and Friday night to be spent at Flagstaff, and Saturday morning the trip will bo made to tho Canyon. Tho party will spend Sunday and Monday there, and tho return homo will commence Tuesday morning. Tho association has limited tho number of excursionists to seventy-live aud none but quill-pushers, with one member of the family, aro eligible. An iuvitation has been extended to tho California Press association, and editors who aro not members of either association can take advautngo of this excellent opportunity to expand their souls at a moderate price. Barney Sears now has full charge of tho Parlor Exchange restaurant, Fred Hawkins having retired from the firm. This has becomo the popular eating house of tlio town. B. Lacey of Phoenix spent Friday here. Mr. Goldberg is one of the linn of Goldberg Bros, and Mr. Lacey is tlio owner of tho Phoenix gas works.

Dr. Brannen drove the visitors over town and they expressed themselves as being highly pleased with the Skylight City and its superb summer climate and they will probably spend a portion of the summer here. Flagstaff's chain gang has been practically abolished. There was friction as to whose duty it was to herd tho hobos while they laundered the streets, so petty offenders must now repent within the narrow confines of the 2x4 dungeon called the city jail. It is alleged that City Marshal Hoch-j derffer claimed it was not a part of his duty to superintend the job but that the work camo under the jurisdiction of Street Commissioner Mayflower.

The latter said nay. Perhaps the city council can disentangle the snarl that seems to have disrupted the noblo enterprise.
