Donald Trump's personal tax revolt, sparked by a disputed appraisal of bis palatial Palm Beach home, was crushed yesterday by an appellate court The immediate cost to the billionaire: about $81,500 more each year in property taxes. "It's wonderful," said Willa Fearrington, an attorney for Palm Beach County. In an unsigned opinion, the 4th District Court of Appeal overturned a lower court ruling that had reduced the appraised price of Trump's Mar-a-Lago mansion from $11.5 million to $7 million. A few days after Trump bought the house, Palm Beach County property appraiser Rebecca Walker valued Trump's home at $11.5 million, bringing the annual tax bill to $208,341.

Notwithstanding the purchase price, Trump told the county his home was worth $7 million the rest, he said, represented untaxable furnishings. Under Trump's calculations, his tax bill would have been $126,816. The appellate court said there was no evidence to suggest that the county property appraiser's office had erred and said the methodology employed by Trump's appraiser was a little dubious. The dispute began in 1986, just days after Trump bought the oceanfront palazzo for $10 million.
