Saturday. Neither my wife nor I can remember who played the character of Mike Hammer on Mickey Spillane's TV show about 15 years ago. If you know, we would appreciate your passing it along to us. ROY THOMAS Dayton That was Damn McGavin, who starred on Mike Hammer, Detective. Tbe 1958-59 series aired on SBC Merv's alive, well A couple of weeks ago I heard a report that Merv Griffin is deceased.

Is this true? AVE M. KRUEGER Kettering You aren't the first reader to ask this question. Merv Griffin Is not deceased. Merv Griffin lives! Pass It on. She's got 'Fame' I really like the TV show Fame.

I was wondering if you could give some information on Valerie Landsburg (Doris on the show). Also perhaps you could give me an address for her. RANI CROWE Brookville Valerie, who stars at the aspiring actress on tbe show, knows ber role from experience because she's been an actress tor many years. She's the daughter of noted producer Alan Landsburg and her mother, Sally, Is a psychologist, a career Valerie end at one time but then Ignored after she was bitten by the acting bug. Valerie's done several motion pictures and played Bob Sewbart's daughter In the nude-tor-TV movie Marathon.

You can write to her at MGM TV, 1359 Avenue of tbe Americas, Sew York, S.Y. 19919. George the clown After watching George Washington, something compelled me to pull out my 1971 Ringling Bros, and Bamum Bailey Circus program. Sure enough, there was Barry Bostwick, not as the father, of our country but made up as "Beau," a member of Ringling Bros, and Bar-num Bailey's unique new contemporary vocal group, the Klowns. Can you find a copy of the Klowns' record anywhere? It has been quite a few years since its release.

MICHAEL PIENKOWSKI Dayton We were unsuccessful In trying to locate that oldie goldle, bnt you're BARRY BOSTWICK Played George Washington right: TV's George Washington was once a circus performer. Bostwick recalls that, as a Sew, York University student before he attained stardom on Broadway, he performed In a street circus troupe in Sew York's Central Park. "It was something unique at that time, in tbe 1960s," be says. "Most street theater then was confrontational radical theater, anti-war, agit-prop. We weren't political at all We were one of the few street groups who were there Just to entertain.

We'd go to Central Park, do five snows a day, move around, pass tbe hat We'd get on the subway, still dressed In tights, and sblepplng our paraphernalia. We must have looked like an outtake from a FeWnl movie." 3 names, please I want to know the names of three men: the man who played Pete Malloy on Adam-12, the man who played Huggy Bear on Starsky and Hutch and the man who played Boomer on Bat-Hester Galactica. Also, will Fame ever come back to nighttime TV with new episodes, or is it off for good? DEBBIE COLLINS Dayton Pete Malloy was played by Martin MUner. Antonio Fargas played tbe Informant Huggy Bear, and Lt. Boomer was Herb Jefferson Jr.

Actually, Fame Is still on nighttime Smile, My favorite show is The A Team. There's only one bad thing about it. I think Mr. should have a nicer expression on his face because God likes to see cheerful, not mean, people. STACY EDMONDSON Bellbrook We tear that a smiling Mr.
