The third floor of 122 Fifth Ave. had the look of a Broadway stage the day before final dress rehearsal. Unopened cartons were stacked in anterooms; sec-tions of floor lacked carpeting; hundreds of prized LPs stood in wooden moving containers. Compact disc racks were bare. But at 10 a.m.

-tomorrow, WQXR AM and FM, the nation's oldest commercial classical music station, moves its broadcast headquarters from The New York Times building on W. 43d St, where it has been for nearly 40 years, to spacious new studios in the Flatiron district, and the look promises to be different meaning finished. Already, new equipment is in place in the three acoustically designed control rooms, newsroom and performance studio. The look everywhere is state of the art, a bit like standing on the bridge of "Star Trek's" Enterprise. ROKRT ROSAMUJO DAILY NEWS studios, which were first occupied on April 16, 1950, six years after WQXR was bought by The Times and 14 years after its founding as the nation's first commercial radio station devoted to classical music. After its founding, WQXR continued to pioneer. In 1939, it became the nation's first FM station; in the 1950s it was the. first to experiment with stereo broadcasting. And although no major programing changes are planned now, Bodow says the station is prepared to expand further when DAT Digital Audio Tape makes its promised debut as the newest new wave in recorded music.

"This is the finest radio facility in America now," Bodow says proudly, standing in the middle of last week's clutter. This has the chiefs grumbling Caseworker. A B.A. degree from an accredited college by January 1990 is required. UFOA President Ed Smith says the negotiation advisory and delegate body has voted overwhelming in favor of the tentative contract "We have retained many important provisions," Smith says. The highlights of the 40-month contract, dating from July 1, 1987, to Oct 1, 1990, include 6 compounded raises retroactive to July 1, 1987. The pact also increases by $50 a year to $150-the amount put into the Active and Retired Family Protection Plan. The uniform allowance is increased by $125 to $810 a year, effective July 1, 1989.

A change in the language on line-of-duty sick pay was made to conform with Internal Revenue Service regulations, effective July 1, 1989. The new contract runs for 40 months an increase of four months. Also included are a 39-hour increase in work a year because of the elimination of a personal leave day, an adjusted tour and a vacation tour (the latter two are 15-hour tours). Blood-donation day reimbursement was eliminated, as were restrictions on the scheduling and performance of field inspection (AFIDAFRD). The contract includes a modification in existing Fire Department York driver's license is required.

A valid New York State Dental Hygienist's license is required. Candidates will be ranked on education and experience. The salary is $21,995. Associate Accountant A B.A. with 21 credits in accounting, including' one course each in advanced accounting, auditing and cost accounting, as well as two years experience or a valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license.

A written test is scheduled Oct. 28. Salary is lor uct. 28. salary is $22,333.

Research Assistant (HHC). A high school diploma and four years experience in gathering, organizing and analyzing data and report writing or an A.A.S. degree and two-and-a-half years of experience. Candidates will be ranked based on education and experience. Salary is $24,814.

Taxi and Limousine Inspector. A high school diploma is required. To apply, candidates must have a New York State Motor Vehicle Inspection Certificate, emissions qualified. A valid New York driver's license is quired upon appointment Candidates will be ranked based on education and experience. Salary is $21,982.

Structure Maintainer Trainee Group H. Four years experience in air-conditioning-heating systems repair or high school diploma and two years experience. Graduation from a trade school also is acceptable with a major in air-conditioning-heating or electrical technology. Also an A.A.S. degree in field.

Candidates must have a driver's license valid in New York upon appointment A written test is scheduled for Sept 23. Pay is $10.49 an hour. Structure Maintainer Group C.
