When I was 18 the cataracts ripened which makes vision comparable to looking through a dirty windshield as the bright sun shines on it. My doctor explained the process to me. I was given sodium pentothal, although most operations are done under local anesthesia. In September 1966 my right eye was done and in February my left was operated on. In a very short time I was fitted for contact lenses and glasses, which are worn when not wearing the contacts.

Since I was born with cataracts, I never saw like other people. I'll never forget the glorious feeling of truly seeing for the first time. Everything was so much brighter and clearer. I am now 28 years old with vision in both eyes. The world is so beautiful.

According to election officials, George H.

Hummel of Trotwood and Paul O. Fox of Miamisburg both filed requests for recounts Monday. Each lost in close races. HUMMEL LOST the Ward 4 Trotwood Council seat by six votes, 225-219, to incumbent Robert T. Payne, according to voting results certified last week by the county's Board of Elections.

Fox, an incumbent, lost by four votes, 2,101 to 2,097, to Michael D. Kierstead for one of three Miamisburg school board seats contested in the election. Kay Stephens, Board of Elections director, said Hummel has to pay $20 for his recount while Fox receives his free, based on the size of the electorate and the 1 per cent margin in their vote tallies. Wednesday is the deadline for a candidate to file a request for a recount. To date, Hummel and Fox are the only candidates to ask for them.

Hummel will not be required to pay for his recount if the new tally reverses the outcome. Insurance agency founder Robert P. Wagner dies at 66 Robert P. Wagner founder of the Wagner Insurance Agency, died Tuesday. He was 66.
