"Wisconsin THE WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL Madison Tuesday, May 31, 1938 Married so SOCIETY CLUB NEWS Southern Belles to Represent States in June Festival Madison Women to Take Part in Phi Mu Conclave to Be Held in Asheville On Circus Guests Zeta Phi Eta Initiates Seven New Members Seven new members ere initiated into Zeta Phi Eta, national speech sorority, Thursday evening at the College club in a ceremony conducted by Miss Dorothy Knauss, president of the sorority. Those initiated were the Misses Helen Mae Collentine, Victoria Evans, Janet Jones, Mildred Eads, Maria Matala, Nina Larson, and Irene "O'Neill. Following the initiation, a supper was served, and the new initiates entertained the actives with five minute readings. Miss Janice De Bower, who was in charge of the arrangements for the informal part of the initiation, was assisted by Miss Kathleen Dean and Mips Jeannette Wach-ovius. Miss Kay.

Hammond and Miss Jane Dawdy assisted Miss Knauss in plans for the formal ceremony. S. Bloom, 444 Hawthorne ct, will attend the national convention of the sorority to be held July 10 to 15 at Asheville, N.

C. Miss Emily Belk, vice-president of the Wisconsin chapter, has been elected to represent the active chapter at the convention. Miss Ruth Fence, 933 University is her alternate. Miss Belk, whose home is in Bismarck, N. has been appointed to the athletic committee for the convention.

She is a sophomore student in the physical educational department at the university and for the past year has been secretary of the Physical Education club at the university. Mr. and Mrs. Sverre O. Braa-then, rt.

4, entertained several of the circus performers at a dinner at their home Saturday evening following the afternoon show. Among the guests were Dr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Tormey, 303 Carroll st, who with the Braa-thens are active in the Circus Fans and guests from the circus included Mr.

Will Wallett, and LeRoy Schrader. Following the Saturday evening circus performance, a number of the circus performers were guests at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Tormey, and some of the troupe were guests at a party given by Mr. and Mrs.

HENDRICKSON The marriage of Miss Marian Lucille Ruppcrt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rup-pert, Belleville, to Gerald F. Hendrickson, also of Belleville, took place May 24. The couple will live on the Hen-drickon homestead at Belleville.

The maid of honor, Miss Gret-chen Steiner, Prairie du Chien, wore a gown of pink marquisette and a corsage bouquet of sweet peas. The Rev. W. K. Bodamer, Prairie du Chien, was the best man.

At noon, a luncheon was served to 25 guests, and during the afternoon a reception was held. Later, young Mr. and Mrs. Johnson left on a wedding trip. Both Mr.

and Mrs. Johnson are graduates of the Elroy high school. Mrs. Johnson has given lessons in piano to beginners, and Mr. Johnson, a graduate of the RCA Radio Institute of Chicago, is employed at station WBEO in Marquette, Mich.
