Rock, a former UD instructor who is also director of the Living Arts Center, is Mr. Manime a name derived, he explains, from the concept that "Within each of you there are many me's, and what you have to do is let it surface." Adds Rock, "I'm more or less the catalyst who helps them realize they can be anything they want to be. The first program relates to the importance of names and where we would be if we didn't have them. We believe education and entertainment really do belong together." Music is a key element in the concept. Songs are all written and scored by Rock and Ron Kindell, a Dayton teacher, with backup music by the Jimmy May Quartet.

"We do not like to see kids get involved in music that is outside their realm of their own experience," says Rock. "And often music that is written for children is on a much simpler level than what they can really handle. We're trying to provide music and lyrics that they can identify with things that mean something to them."
