1954 was a red letter day for two young people from West Virginia. More than a million people watched i wedding on the television program, "Bride and Groom." in New York City. Miss Dolores Jean Stepp, of Delhnrton, County, became the bride of Roy Ernest Pyles. of Seehert, Pocahontas County, As a result of their televised wedding, the Pyles received an electric sweeper, a gas stove, wedding bands and a New York honeymoon. Today the Pyles live at Nelson Drive in the Tyler Heights area with their two children, Carla Jean, 6, and Kara Lee, 2.

Mr. Pyleg is an active gardener and the results of his labors are found in the family's and in a big supply of canned vegetables. He was raised on a farm adjacent to Watoga State Park. A newspaper career was begun in 1954 in Richwood hy Mr. Pyles with the Nicholas Republican.

He came to Charleston two years later. Mr. Pyles is one of the 480 skilled workers whose talents are combined in the production of West Virginia's three largest newspapers, the Charleston Daily Mail, the Charleston Gazette and the Sunday Gazette-Mail.
