DEAR ABBY Put Shocking Widower on Ice DEAR ABBY: What do you make of a man who buries his wife on a Friday and asks you a date for the fo 11 owing Wednesday? I a c- cepted, thinking 1 he need ded someone to console him, but got the I Abby prise of hilte. He acted like a sailor on shore leave after eight months on a ship. His wife and I were very good friends and I realize that she had been sick for a year, but I can't see any excuse for the rush this man was in to make up for lost time. When he asked me out for the next night I told him I didn't think we should be seen 111 public together because people might talk, so he's been parking himself over here telling me how lonesome he is, and how much he needs "female companionship." Abby, I'm a widow and I am lonesome, too, but I I'm not that lonesome. How long do you think I should wait before I let him court me? I know lots of women in this town who would be glad to have him.

ENCINO WIDOW DEAR WIDOW: The man shows a shocking lack of re. spect for the memory of his wife. Put him on Ice for about a year. He could use some cooling off. DEAR ABBY: I have a relative who is so afraid she'll die of germs that she has people thinking she is off her nut.

She carries a big bottle of disinfectant around in her purse to clean off the rim of a glass or cup before she will drink from it. She also cleans the silverware in this manner before using it. Now I'm not talking about taking such precautions in a restaurant -she does this right in someone's home when she is a guest. Pretty insulting, isn't it? The journey will have begun at New Canaan with cocktails en route and, after the stop in Westport, will continue to a benefit concert by Artur Rubinstein at the Shakespeare theater in Stratford. 'The provisions, to be coltsumed in transit, will include bite-size bits of Quiche Lorraine, cubes of beef slowly simmered in a red wine sauce, carrots, rice and cream puffs, PROVIDING such fare is a new, thriving and telatively, sophisticated, small enterprise here called Bon Appetit. It is a place where one can dine at noon on such fare as coulibiac of salmon, or sample an omelet or finish a meal with a rich almond cream tart with apricot glaze. "We're a one-stove operation," Ruth Norman, the owner, said recently, "but we are busy." And indeed she was. The customers that day, most of whom had arrived in station wagons or sport cars, helped themselves to the various foods, which also included onIon soup, hollandaise for their salmon in pastry, sauteed cucumbers with zucchini, brown bread and butter, iced tea and coffee, "You know," Miss Norman added, "this luncheon thing is only a showcase for our foods." The small staff at Bon Appetit take turns at making omelets, which they fill or top with such savories as sour cream and red caviar, herbs, cheese or meat with chili.
