AN Advertifement fome Time ago published by Mr. Richard Ihnfcn, Attorney for Sir LycnelLyde, informing the Publick that feveral Negroes by me advertifed for Sale, as the Ertate of Mr. John Monro, deceafed, had been mortgaged by Colonel Andrei Monro to the faid Lyonel Lyde, to fecure the Payment of a very confider able Sum of Money, gave me the flrrt Information cf that Tranfaclion; fince which I thought it incumbent upon me, as well to juftify my own Condudt as to prevent any Uneafintfs in the Purchafera of thofe to make an Inquiry into the Matter, and I can now, with the greateft Ceitainty, afTure them that Colonel Andrew Monro, previous to the Mortgage before mentioned, had not only given the Slaves aforefaid to his Son, the faid join Monro, by a Marriage Contract recorded In the County Court. of. Wefimoreland, but had alfo given him op the PofTeflion of them at leart twelve Months before the Execution of the faid Mortgage Colonel Monro may have impofed upon Mr.

Lyde, but could not thereby effedt the Title of his Son in an Ertate given to him in the Manner afore faid and therefore 1 hope the Purchafers will immediately difcharge their Bonds, which I prefume fome of them have been prevented from doing by Mr. Uanjoni Publication. (4) JOHN' ASHTON. DINWIDDIE, March 30, 1773. not yet lold the Land on Meherrm River, which was formerly advertifed and as I am flill inclined to difpofe of it, and in my former Advertifement gave a very fhort Defcriptioni 'of the Land, with its Conveniences, I think it neceffary now to mention fome other Clrcumllances relative to it, which may perhaps be an Inducement to a Purchafer.

The low Cround, containing two HundYed Acres, is fupeiiour to mort, and infericur to none, on that Part of the River Part of the high Land, without the Affirtance of Manure, will produce large Tobacco, but the greateft Part is more fuitahle for Crain, bein? a light, lively, and fertile Soil, which may be worked with Eafe and Advantage the back Land is flill lighter, bot affords extraordinary Raneo tor vattie ana nogs, un tne 1 ract mere is a nigty piearant, and beautiful Situation for a Dwellinghoufe and Plantation, very convenient to an excellent Spring. This Land is almort equally converritht to all thtf Warehoufes eftablifhed between Pderflurg and. Mdntr', as likewiie to feveral Mills and, in a Word, was it in the Pofleffion of a Proprietor who lived upon or near the Prcmifes, I am not acquainted with a con fiderable Inconvenience that would attend it. But as it is entirely out of the Circle of my Bufinefs, and I coniefs that I am but a Novice in Huf bandry, I would willingly turn it into fomething that may be more convenient to mc. My Price is allowed, by feveral who are well acquainted1 with the Land, to be very moderate, and the Purchafer may fix the Time of Credit, confining himfelf within the Compafs of three Years.

(4) JOHN RUFFJW, Junior. HANOVER, April 1773. CHARLES MAC IVER. RICHMOND, April toK 1 77 j.

SO little Attention was paid, to Kir. James M'DiwaU't Advertifement of April hd that many of the Accounta remain unfettled on the Books kept by him for Alexander Speirs, Jsbn Bowman, and Company, at this Place. As they are now in my PolTcffion, I defire thofe whofe Accounts are unfettled to come and afcer tain their Balances by Bond, without Lofs of Time, otherwife their Accounts will be put into an Attorney's Hands.
