A weakening Pacific disturbance approaching northern sections of the state is expected to thicken coastal low clouds tonight, cooling ocean beaches several degrees on Tuesday. Afternoon temperatures are predicted to range from the 50s in the high country to the mid-80s throughout the Coachella and Imperial Valleys.

Upper-atmospheric winds blowing toward the continent are showing signs of adjusting to a typical spring transition pattern.
