1 Oct. 24, 1944 Forders, Lost Met 18 Years Ago FORD CITY--When Punxsutawney plays at Ford City Friday night it will be the first time in 18 years that the two schools have met on the gridiron. In 1948 Ford City downed Punxsy, 26-12. The teams played four consecutive years. Ford City won 19-0 in 1945 and 13-0 in 1947.

The Chucks took the 1946 contest, Jim Davis was the Ford City coach during four years. Davis in now elementary principal of the Ford City Area school system. Coaches since Davis' era have been Bill Abraham, Walt Charley, Jack Conley and Don Mains. The Sabers will be near full strength for the game Friday night. Some of the boys who did not play last week will likely see limited action.

These include Ed Gladys and Kirk Ziegler, John Odrechowski, who has a sprained ankle has been working out, but is a doubtful starter. Dennis Shu-ing may dress as he did last week against Tarentum, but if is doubtful if he will see action. Mike Carl and Dave Goodman are not expected to play.
