146 Attend Baptist School An average of 146 boys and girls and 35 workers attended the Vacation Bible school of the First Baptist church during the week just closed, a sizeable increase over the year previous. "Marching On" has been the general theme of the school, and head, hand, and heart of all enrolled have gone forward in Bible study hymn study, and handwork. Five departments are being conducted: nursery, kindergarten, primary, junior, and junior ages 3 to 14. New pupils will still be accepted next week. The closing program is scheduled for Friday evening, June 24, at 7 o'clock.

Missionary offerings will be used to help underprivileged boys and girls in southern Ohio enjoy similar privileges. our troubles. And now and then when I felt I'd done poorly, I would pour my woes into his ears what a poor sermon I had preache( that night, and why did I ever ge into this field anyway, and how nobody would be in church to hear me next Sunday. So ran my disma and negative complaint. He would listen patiently anc tell me to go back next Sunday anc try it again.

Sometimes, he'd come to hear me. Then, one Sundaj night, when I thought my sermon had been particularly poor, I went into his store and found him behind the soda fountain, working I perched up on a stool to talk to him and said, "Mr. Russ, I'm looking for a job." "What's the trouble?" he asked. "I guess I'd better give up preaching," I told him. "I can't do it.

There's no use trying and I'm about ready to give up and get another job." "What kind of job are you going to get?" I WATCHED HIM making sodas and replied with a question: "Do you need a soda jerk here?" "Well," he said, "as a matter of fact, I am looking for someone." "I'll apply "Tor th job. I can start right "All right. Put on an apron," he directed, "and come around the counter here and see what you can do." I followed his instructions and, taking a seat at the counter, soda." "Yes, sir," I said. 1 hunted around and found the right ingre dients and put them in a glass When I squirted the carbonated water in, I didn't get quite the head on the soda a professional does but it looked pretty good to me. I set it down before Mr.

Russ He took a straw, put it down into the soda and took a long draw. Then he looked up at me and shook his head, "Better stick to preaching." WE WENT BACK behind his prescription counter and sat down. "You know, son," he said, "everyone in every job has their moments of despair. You're going through the same thing everyone else does." He reached into his pocket for his billfold and brought out a picture of a lovely young woman. 'Take me, for example.

I lost her after we'd been married only three years. It seemed that the light of my life went out. There was noth- ng but darkness and despair. Then I turned to the Bible and one day, found a message that was like a burst of light: 'He careth for And suddenly I knew in my heart hat God did care for me and that He would see me through." That experience gave him faith which helped him to shake off discouragement. And from it, he said, he learned three things which are iure cures for discouragement.

The first is to think right. The econd is to believe right and the bird is to act right. you have the Answer. My friend taught me that when liscouragement threatens your hap- "liness, simply use your will pow- and think creatively, positively. 'Ptimistically.

Thus emotional upsets come with deep anxiety and regrets, the result is individuals become very unhappy and fearful and fear they are defeated in their lives, purposes and goals. However, there is a real searching by many trying to find ways of escape from these situations in life's experiences. THEREFORE, for today as well as the experience of those long ago as given in this scripture message, the answer is in the good news of the gospel message which points us to the love of God and his provisions in Jesus Christ the Saviour, who is and provides the real answer to these problems and needs.

When we as individuals admit we have these needs and by faith accept the divine provisions and believe in Him who is here and near, tender and sympathizing as the Mighty One to save by giving us the power and way to overcome these situations. Henceforth, by faith we accept His divine forgiveness and touch and thus appropriating these spiritual resources and let them become ours, and by the reality of the same as relief from our guilt and tensions and the strain through the unmerited, matchless- grace of the living Lord. By pursuing this new way of life and with faith in our hearts we will walk with Him in obedience to his teachings in the Christian life. Hongkong has become an important motion picture producer.
