The authority is co-sponsoring an upcoming seminar for first-time ho-mebuyers with the Atlanta Mortgage Consortium, a non-profit group of Atlanta lenders who provide mortgages to low- and moderate-income families. "We want to get renters into their own homes for their sakes and for the benefit of our community in Clayton County," Marshall homeowners will improve our schools, increase our tax base, keep people in one place longer and increase community pride and thus lower crime rates." ByKentKimes STAFF WRITER A posh clubhouse for tenants of the 1500 Tara Place condominiums at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) opened during this month's Purolator 500 and was the first phase of the project to be completed. Richard Sowers, AMS director of public relations, says the facility is like the clubhouse at a golf club, complete with bar and seating area.

Finishing touches were applied to the clubhouse an hour before the grand opening bash. At the celebration, condo owners and guests milled about the facility. The clubhouse stands separate from the condominium tower and fronts a fenced-in area that will include a large pool, tennis courts, cabana and bike trail. Sowers said AMS will rent out the clubhouse for wedding receptions and parties. The clubhouse is a larger and more opulent version of apartment complex clubhouses.

An adjoining exercise center with weight room and sauna are ready. The condominiums will overlook the Richard Petty Grandstand upon completion before the Hooters 500 on Nov. 13. Sowers said construction is two months ahead of schedule and the units will be finished about mid-September.
