Stabler taught at Tennessee technological university. He also worked at Price Waterhouse and Arthur Andersen Accounting firms. He was the past president of the Georgia Society of CPA trom 1995-1996 and held various positions With that organization prior to that office. Stabler has published extensively in numerous accounting publications. He was an active member of St.

Mark United Methodist Church where he served on the finance committee. Dr. Stabler was active in the community and served on several fund raising committees for Georgia State University. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 29, 1999 at 10:00 AM. at Spring Hill.

Carmichael-Hem-perley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, GA 770-631-9171. CALDWELL Earl D. Caldwell, 78 of Douglasville, GA, died Sunday, June 27, 1999 in Marietta, GA. Formerly of Marietta, GA, he was the son of James Sr. and Elba Vereen Edge.

A member of Galatia Presbyterian Church, Mr. Edge served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific, and was with Civil Service for thirty years before he retired in 1971 as the Deputy Post Engineer at Ft Bragg. In 1973, Mr. Edge was the co-founder of Highland Trader with Furniture Restoration and Chemical Supplies for dealers, and served on the Board of Directors for the Lake Rim Fire Department in the late 1970's.

Funeral services will be held 11.00 a.m. Wednesday morning at Galatia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Gene Miller officiating. Burial will be 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday afternoon at the Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nell Funderburk Edge of Charlotte; four sons, Mr. James Lafayette Edge, III of Fuquay Varina, Mr. Philip Everett Edge of Fayetteville, Mr.

GIDLEY Barbara Thayer Gidley, age 79, passed away Sunday, June 27, 1999 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She died at home surrounded by her loving family. Barbara is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gilbert Gidley, daughter, Joanne Thompson, sons and daughters in-law, Steve and Shirley Gidley, David and Lee Gidley, granddaughters, Ad-rienne and Allison Gidley, Hannah and Patience Thompson, and grandsons, Sam Gidley and James Johnson. Barbara was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and volunteered her time on numerous committees. Bird, who brought independence to Antigua and founded a political dynasty that continues to rule, died Monday. He was He was pronounced dead at St John's Holberton Hospital, where he had been in intensive care for three weeks, according to reports on Antigua and Bar buda's government-controlled radio stations.

The cause of death was not disclosed. Mr. Bird became a union leader who defied British colonizers in the 1950s to demand higher wages for sugar cane cutters. Mr. Bird led his country to independence from Britain in 1981 and still is revered by many for that.
