Austin, age formerly of Rio, died on Sunday, June 7, 1987, at Divine Savior Nursing Home, Portage. She was born on January 29, 1893, in Brandon, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edwin J. and Lucy (Jacks) Cheney.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rio and the churches Ladies Circle. She had previously lived in Brandon, Wisconsin and Grand Rapids, Michigan before moving to Rio. She was a member of the Rio Eastern Star. She married Arthur Austin on November 4, 1925, in Brandon, Wisconsin. Survivors include two sons, Earle 'Doc' (Betty) Austin of Portage and David (Nita) Austin of Portage; three grandchildren, Robyn and Bill Austin and Julie Goodman; and a greatgranddaughter, Katy Beth Austin.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Arthur on December 1, 1976; a brother, Earle; and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH, Rio, with Reverend Michael Briggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Bonnet Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 9, from 5-8 p.m.

at the funeral home. VANGEN FUNERAL HOME RIO, WISCONSIN Barash, Abe M. MADISON Abe M. Barash, age 74, of 214 North Franklin Avenue, died at his home on Monday, June 8, 1987. He was born on March 7, 1913, in Russia.

He was raised in Fond du Lac and attended the Wisconsin School For The Deaf in Delavan. He had been a Madison resident for the past 52 years, during which time he owned and operated Abe's Shoe Repair Service. He was past president of the Madison Association For The Deaf and was very active in many deaf organizations. He was a member of Beth Israel Center. Survivors include his wife, Hilda; his son, Dr.

Harvey (Trudy) Barash of Madison; his daughter, Eve Dicker of Milwaukee; two sisters, Dr. Lucille Barash Rosenberg of Milwaukee, and Lillian Winograd of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren, Marcy (David) Dropkin, Todd Dicker, and David, Jonathan, Joshua, and Daniel Barash; and a greatgrandson, Ari Dropkin. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 1987, at 1:00 p.m. at BETH ISRAEL CENTER, 1406 Mound Street, with Rabbi Charles Feinberg officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Koeppen, age 79, of Poynette; died on Tuesday, June 2, 1987, at the Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. Alice Koeppen was born on December 2, 1907, in Jefferson City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gus and Millie (Kobs) Byrow. She was married to Howard Koeppen who preceded her in death on August 19, 1976. Survivors include a son, Robert (Virginia) Koeppen of the Phillipines; a daughter, Alicemae (Jerran) Hanson of Poynette; a sister, Mrs. Lena Gerstner of Lake Mills; five grandchildren, Greg, Lisa, David and Jay Hanson of Poynette and Cathy of the Phillipines; and other relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Rose Kakuschke. The family requests that memorials be given to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers. Funeral services will be held at the PFLANZ FUNERAL HOME, Poynette, on Tuesday evening, June 9, 1987, at 7 p.m. with the Reverend William Stark officiating. Private entombment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Division Stoughton, died unexpectedly on Sunday evening, following an apparent heart attack. She was born on March 21, 1910 at La Farge, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Olaf and Lola Bratvold. She came to Stoughton in 1950 from La Farge, and was employed as a cook at the Berge Restaurant, and the Hotel Kegonsa at Stoughton prior to her retirement 11 years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Jeannette (Ray) Smithback of Stoughton and Jean Keegan of Richland Center; two sons, Joe (Barbara) LaBansky of Woodburn, Oregon and Curtis (Laurel) LaBansky of Salem, Oregon; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Verland Bratvold of Waukesha; and a sister, Lee Davis of Sun City, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a grandson, Mike Smithback in 1982.

Vi, as she was affectionately known by her family and many friends in the Stoughton area, will be sorely missed by those who knew her and loved her. Her ready smile and willing spirit were a part of her everyday living. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery South.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mary A. COLUMBUS Mrs. Mary A. Mulligan, age 93, died on Monday, June 8, 1987, in Columbus Care Center. The former Mary Miller was married to Henry Mulligan in 1917.

He died in 1953. She is survived by two sons, James (Joan) Mulligan of Elm Grove, and Francis (Marilyn) Mulligan of Sun City West, Arizona; a daughter, Mrs. John (Eugenia) Ackerman of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Holtz of Milwaukee; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Strobel, Alma RIO Alma Strobel, age 85, of 404 W. Harvey Rio, died on Sunday, June 7, 1987, at Columbus Community Hospital. She was born on September 23, 1901, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the daughter of August and Emma (Giesee) Sahm. She was an Elementary School Teacher for many years and assisted her husband with the local newspaper in Rio for many years. She was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Rio.

Survivors include a brother, Walter (Blanche) Sahm of Ashland, Wisconsin; a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Ruth) Newman of Stillwater, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents; and her husband, Victor on September 23, 1974. West, age 71, of Darlington, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, June 7, 1987, at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, after a short illness. She was born in Platteville, Wisconsin, on December 6, 1915, to Manfred S. and Dorothy M. Cushman Block. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

On August 30, 1940, she married Walter S. West. Mrs. West taught public schools in Evansville, and worked for the United States Geological Survey from 1942 to 1950. After her marriage she lived in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and in Washington, D.C.

In 1966, she moved back to Darlington. Survivors include her husband, Walter, at home; two sons, Walter of New York City, and George of Tampa, Florida; a daughter, Janet West of Hazel Green; a brother, Robert Block of Platteville; and a sister, Eloise Block of Platteville. She was a member of the Washington, D.C. chapter of the D.A.R. and the Geological Society of Washington.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 1987, at 11:00 a.m. at the ERICKSON FUNERAL HOME, Darlington. Pastor Mark Gilberts will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery, Darlington. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m.
