Logansport, Indiana Pharos-Tribune Thirteen Sponsored by Jaycees LOGANSPORT PHAROS-TRIBUNE AUTO SHOW SECTION At Armory Dec. 5,6,7,8 MAIN ENTRANCE TO ANNUAL AUTO SHOW IN NEW BUILDING PREPARE ARMORY BUILDING FOR OPENING OF AUTO SHOW The newer of Hie two local National Guard Armory buildings, in which the fourth annual Logansport Auto Show opens Thursday, is shown Sleek new cars of all sizes and descriptions will be displayed In the second National Guard Armory building, shown above, starting Thurs- above. Entrance to the show will be through the main doors of this building, after which visitors to the automotive display will visit the day evening with the opening of the annual auto show here. Members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce began preparing the armory second building, just south of the new building on South Cicott street. Sixteen new cars, including foreign and American-made sports cars, for the event Monday night with painting in the above building. Annual Auto Show Opens Thursday At Armory New 1958 mode! cars, including •one foreign and one American- made sports cars, will be on display in the fourth annual Logansport Auto Show. .This great display of new model automobiles will open for a four-day run in the National Guard Armory on South Cicott street Thursday evening. Doors will swing open each eve- ning at 7 p.m. Thursday ."or three | hours. The new 1958 automobiles which will be on display will be Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Continental, DeSoto, Edsel, Ford, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, Oldsmobile, Plymouth and Studebaker. Sports cars wili be a Mercedes- Benz model and a Chevrolet Corvette. Dealers who are participating in the Logansport annual event are Havens Motors, Hendrickson Motor Sales, Hope-Luxem Co., Lutes Motors, Myers-McCain, Inc., Shilling Auto Sales and WSE Motor Sales. Gore and his group will appear between 7 and 10 o'clock both evenings, alternating appearances in the two buildings. Admission to the auto show will be 35 cents, with children under 16 admitted free whe.n accompanied by their parents. Jayettes, members of the Logansport Junior Chair.ber of Commerce auxiliary, will assist in staging the auto show. Mrs. Betty Neville will be in charge of the Jayelte work, which will include selling tickets. Jim McCord is chairman of the Jaycee committee in charge of the event. Chairman under him include William Carney, in charge of personnel: Jack Sleinberger, painting; Willis Montgomery and Gail Barber, decorating: and George Carabet, advertising. This year's tax total is expected to be increased considerably by the end of the year through de- ".inquent payments. Mr. McColly stated a good many taxpayers are delinquent and must pay an eight per cent penalty,- as required by law. The 1956 tax collection total was $1.506,374.20 including $902,332.29 received in the spring, and $603,991.91 in the fall. Collected thus far this year in the fali installment of taxes has been $692,461.66 while last springs i collections amounted to $1,009,366- I.B1. I Ditch assessments collected from Mov. 5, 1956 to May 6, 1957 was $8,912.20 and from May 6, 1957 to Nov. 4, 1957 was $144,831.17 for a total of $153,743.37.
