It was the second straight Duso League victory for the Newburghers. Port riumphed in the jsyvpr game by a 13-10 score.

The nightcap gave every indi- ttion in resulting in a Newburgh victory during the first half as the Goeweymen baffled the Porters with a well-conceived attack. Despite Newburgh's superiority in those first two periods, the lome team -found the visitors a stubborn foe and was able to boast only an 18-13 lead at the long In- ermission. Newburgh's flashy of- ensive was conspicuous by its absence upon resumption of play rod Port gradually crept up. Warren Kias charges had registered Iiree straight league victories prior last night and from all indica- ions Middletown seemingly would have to play brilliantly to knock Colonial City Club from its lofty perch. They say every team, even the best of them, has its off nights and certainly the Kiasmen were miles away from everywhere ast night. But to make matters worse, Middletown too played in atrocious fashion and the resulting brand of basketball was of rock- txttom variety. Both clubs violated all ethics of good play. Passes landed in enemy hands or in the laps of spectators, shots at the basket frequently failed to touch either the rim or the backboard, and only in the last quarter -when Kingston pulled away Bid either team get going in a forward direction.

Middies Miss Chance Middletown had a golden opportunity to gain a commanding lead in the first period but inaccurate passing ruined many chances. The game was nearly five minutes old before pither team made a point. Then, Jecs Shultis dropped a foul for Kingston. Larry Latour put Middletown ahead with a push-up but VanBuren tied the score with a foul. The latter was replaced by Ray Lindhurst, a gangling six-footer on the next play, and this substitution eventually- proved a wise one.

Latour followed VftnBuren's foul with another doubleton and Fred Speiser's dribble-in shot gave Middletowi? a 6-2 lead at the first quarter. Although then- offense was far below par, the Middies were checking well on the defense and the numerous home supporters entertained fond hopes of victory.
