647 Germantown st. WIll pick up. FU-7841 Owner Of Radio Stations Dies DETROIT, May Richards, 62, charged by the government with slanting newscasts on his three radio stations, died today. Richards entered Harper hospital here last Friday with a dilated abdominal artery, which doctors said caused his death. He also had a heart ailment for 14 years.

His stations, WJR in Detroit, WGAH in Cleveland and KMPC in Los Angeles, have been under investigation by the Federal Communications Commission for three years. Government attorneys charged that Richards had newscasts tailored to fit his own political and social opinions, in violation of FCC regulations. Pending a decision on the charges, the FCC has withheld license renewals for the three stations. was not known immediately what effect his death would have on the investigation. Born March 19, 1889, at Crete, Richards stepped from selling tires to selling automobiles and then into radio.

He bought WJR in December, 1926, when the station was on the verge of bankruptcy. WGAR was the product of merging WCSO, Springfield, and WFJC. Akron, 0., two 500- watt stations. Richards bought KMPC in 1937. Richards has made his home in Beverly Hills, for the past several years.

He is survived by his wife, Frances, and daughter, Mrs. Sibley Moore. Keith. Cordell and Dorothy, 934 Danner daughter. Link, Raymond and Jacqueline, 36 Seminary daughter, Reed.
