The West Virinia Wilber force struggle, scheduled for Thanksgiving Day in Neil Park, Columbus, Ohio, still grows in interest as' the major event of the season among colored grid fans of the great middle iirnct I 1 tOW The failure or success of. either Eleven, antedating the battle of Turkey Day, has but small bearing upon the outcome of this feature event lietween the twojelevens. Success or faiiure In prior con tests may furnish hunches for dope I stew or loud voiced, wild eyed fans to pick a winner on form; but what the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia, or the Forcians of the Euckeye State willdo after they kick off in Neil Park i.J beyond the limits of mortal keri to determine.

Last year, Wilberforce beat Lincoln University No brother, not Lincoln of Missouri 25 to 0. This year, in Pittsburgh, she repeated to the rune of 7 to 0 and yet, last year this same Lincoln University of Chester County, Pennsylvania, b.eid the Yellow Jackets to a scoreless tij, and the Yellow Jackets, on Turkey Day, beat the Forcians. 7 If any dopester can tell what the harvest is froing to be when the referee blows his final blast on November 25, then vour correspondent is the man who struck "Billy Patterson." Coach Graves, grid mentor of Wilberforce varsity, begins and ends every practice with this "West Virginia must be beaten." Conch Hamblin, the silent smiling guide of the destinies of the "Mountaineers," is drilling his men to play the game from whistle to whistle. The record cf the two teams, since the game has been put on a basis where brains and skill rule, has been most brilliant. The record of West Virginia, for the last six years, has been unparalleled in the annals of footbsJI history After taking on Howard and Linoln, last year she finished the season with a victory over Wilberforce.

and the only score chalked against her came from the educated toe of a Wilberforce back, who drop kicked over the Yellow Jacket's bar. Bth elevens have stellar back fields, that are triple threats, and lines that have withheld the catapults cf most formidable sorties. D. Nov. 18. The National Capital is set for the annual Thanksgiving Day football game between Howard and Lincoln universities. The game this year will be played in the new Howard stadium.

In previous years the American League baseball park has been the scene. For the fashion show tho dazzling display of fur wrappings which has come to overshadow the game itself, the setting will not be as bril liant. There are no boxes for the social elite, although som? provisions for reserved seats are being made. The stadium will seat approximately 9.000 persons. This estimate is 4.000 less than the claimed seating capacity.

Temporary seats v.il! provide accomodations for 3,000 more, assuring a seat for every person who will attend. This will be the twenty second game that these two ancient rivals have played. They first began hostilities in 1S02, Lincoln winning by a score of 6 to 5. The next game was played in 1904, Lincoln again winning by a 1 to 0 score. Lincoln won in 1905 by a score of to 0.

There was no game in 1006. Beginning in 1007 the two schools met annually on the gridiron until 1915. There was no game that year. In 191C, the game was resumed and there has been no interruption of the annual football classic since. Lincoln has emerged the victor in 11 of the 21 contests that the two schools have played.

Howard ha1 triumphed in only 5 games. The remaining 5 games resulted in tied scores. Howard has not tasted vic tory since 1920. when Lincoln crumbled and the Blue and White eleven crushed the Orange and Blue squad by a score of 42 to 0, the largest score ever made by either team in these annual games. A Howard victory is due this year.

The dope points that way. Coach i Louis L. Watson has got the great est team tnat Howard nas nau since the days of 1912, when Ed Gray. "Terrible" Terry and "Bullet" Slaughter made football history on the "Hill." The 926 Howard eleven has done all that has been asked of it. It has won every game it has played i this year.

Lincoln, on the other hand, has not won a gar of any consequence this year. Howard has defeated Livingstone, More irir.il house West Virginia, Fisk, Wilher force and Atlanta Lincoln has at. Aftt reading of the wonderful record built up by the Lin lost to. "oice and Taskegce. University eleven, having defeated Wilberforce and a number of other 1 he t'CSt snowing It nas maie was in the game against West Virginia, i i i held the "Yellow Jackets'' to i i tie.

Or the basis of comparative scores, Howard should Against Wilberforce the Blue ar.d White tt sm made 7 points. Lincoln was unable to score against the same team, and Wilberforce beat them by a score of 7 to 0. The score in the Howard West Virginia game was 14 to 7 in favor Of Howard. The best Lincoln could do was to hold the West Virginians to a 7 7 tie. These are the unly two teams that both Howard ar.d Lincoln have plaved this year.

Comparative figures, however. I mean nothing in the annual Thanks giving uay game oeiwcen nowara and Lincoln. Somehow the dope jfocs'awry. In 123, the record Lincoln was worse. Ihe lslue ar.

Th; outcome the game may turn upon the otliciating. The Howard team is using the huddle system calling In coming out of th? huddle, the line shifts, the bal i is snapped cwl the Howard clever rushes down the neld before its op poncnt can fathom what is haprcn I ing.
