Joufnal-Standafd, Monday, October 81,1977 Stock Market Report NEW YORK (UPI) Stocks turned lower today as traders, uncertain about the economy's outlook, cashed in on the market's recent three-day rally. Trading was moderate. The Dow Jones industrial average, which gained 4.07 points Friday and 21 points in the past three sessions, was off 4.33 points to 818.35 shortly before noon EST. The closely watched average gained 14.38 points overall last week. Declines overtook advances, 540 to 522, among the 1,566 issues crossing the tape.

The 504 unchanged issues reflected investor uncertainty. New York Stock Exchange volume at the two-hour mark amounted to about 7,000,000 shares, compared with 6,820,000 traded during the same period Friday. Vetco which climbed 3V 2 in heavy trading Friday, was the most active NYSE issue, up to Combustion Engineering has offered $23 a share for all Vetco shares and Vetco directors have recommended acceptance of the offer. Combustion Engineering was off Duquesne Light Co. was the second most active issue, unchanged at in trading that included a block of 100,300 shares crossed at on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange.

Lawter Chemical was third, up 'A to following a block trade of 100,000 shares Gold mining issues were weak as bullion prices fell on foreign exchanges. Homestake Mining was off I'A, Campbell Red Lake and Dome Mines Prices were mixed in moderate trading of American Stock Exchange issues. Oda Mullins, 434 W. Roosevelt a clerk in the store, told police that at about 4 a.m. he heard a loud noise from the back of the building. Upon investigation he saw a car had hit the building, pushed the back door off its hinges, pushed the back of the building in and damaged the cooler. Mullins said that the dark colored Chevrolet then left the scene of the accident driving south on North Park Boulevard with the front of the car heavily damaged.

Freeport police have requested that anyone having any information to please call them. Lamm, 28 N. Harlem was driving on North Schoney Road Friday afternoon when his vehicle slid and he hit a car driven by Charles L. Homan, Dakota.

A car driven by Dean Pfile, 511 W. Broadway, was on Henderson Road when the front wheel went off the road and hit a wood road marker early Sunday.morning. Injury Accidents Bobby Leverton, Lena, ran from in front of a parked car into a car driven by Edith Dorsey, 622 S. Carroll Friday afternoon. The boy was taken to a private doctor by his mother where he was treated and dismissed.

Galen H. Kline, 2044 W. Galena struck a car driven by Walter C. Gitz, 1630 Hickory Hill, early Saturday morning, when the Gitz vehicle pulled from a private parking lot on West Galena Avenue into the Kline car. Kline was taken to Freeport Memorial Hospital by ambulance where he was treated and released.

Gitz was also treated and released at the hospital where he was taken by private car. David Stoller, Pearl City, was slightly injured in an one car accident on Pearl City Road early Sunday morning. According to the sheriff's report, Stoller was driving east when he fell asleep. Adams was taken to Freeport Memorial Saturday morning suffering from a self- inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

He was listed in satisfactory condition this morning. Fire Calls Firemen were called to 417 W. Avon Sunday afternoon, to extinguish some clothing and a mattress that were on fire. There was slight damage to the building and contents. Cause of the fire was listed as children playing with matches.

The second floor apartment of Kathleen Furman, E. Monterey received extensive damage to the contents of the living room in an early morning fire Sunday. There was only slight damage to the exterior of the building. The fire was apparently the result of careless use of smoking materials. The building is owned by Thefts A bicycle belonging to Mike Brubaker, 840 W.

Chestnut St. was stolen from in front of 1238 S. West Ave. Thursday. The bike was valued at $50.

The incident was reported to police on Saturday. Betty Cunningham, 220 1 W. Main reported to police Sunday that a rug and some food items were taken from her apartment sometime between Oct. 23 and Oct. 30.

Several tapes were removed from the mailbox of Mary Humphrey, 8 Pleasant Lane, Thursday. The tapes were valued at $7 each. Cheryl Engels, 2J8 W. Funeral service for Michael L. Reed, 28, of 221 Ave. who died at 7:20 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Hospital, Hockford, from Injuries sustained in a traffic accident Oct.

19, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald Hagelln, pastor of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, will officiate. Burial will be In Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Reed was employed by the C.J. Carlson Company in Rockford and was a Vietnam veteran.

Born Sept. 29,1949, In Freeport, he was the son of Daylon and Patricia (Rhode) Reed. He married Nyuyen Thi Nuol Sept. 1972, in Freeport. Surviving are his widow; his father, of Freeport; his mother, Mrs.

Patricia Jurek of Texas; three brothers, John and Daylon, both of Freeport, and Christopher of Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Michael (Laurie) DeBehnke of Freeport, Mrs. Carl (Julie) Wunch of Rockford, and Toni of Texas; his grandmother, Mrs. Gladys Grayson of Freeport; and grandfather, Kenneth Rhode of Kewanee. WACHLIN Miss Jennie I. Wachlin, 79, of 1120 S. State Street, died Saturday at Freeport Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church. Born March 17,1888, in McConnell, she was the daughter of Frank and Julana Wachlin.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Isabelle Nortridge of Freeport and Mrs. Julia Meier of Rock Grove; two half- brothers, Dale of Mount Morris and Floyd of Freeport; and a half-sister, Pearl Biehl of Freeport. She was preceded in death by two brothers. A private funeral service will be scheduled at a later date.

There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements were completed by Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. PAULE.HUTMACHER Paul E. Hutmacher, 47, of Rockford, a former Freeport resident, died at p.m. Sunday at St.

Anthony Hospital in Rockford following a short illness. He had resided in Rockford 13 years, moving from Park Forest. He was material manager for SEMS Division of Cam-Car in Rockford eight years, was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rockford, Park Forest Masonic Lodge, Freeport Consistory, former member of the Toastmasters Club and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1948 and attended Northern Illinois University at DeKalb; Born Sept. 25,1930, in Freeport, he was the son of Roy and Florence (Runkle) Hutmacher.

He married Barbara J. Nelson August 15,1953, in Freeport. Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Traci, and a son, Michael both at home; his parents, of Freeport; one sister, Mrs. Lee (Nancy) Whitson of Freeport; and two brothers, Marvin of Freeport and Larry of Saudi Arabia. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.

Tuesday at Christ United Methodist Church, Rookford. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport, with the Revs. William L. Cull and William R.

Kerr, pastors of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m.' tonight at Sunberg Funeral Home, Rockford, and from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Christ United Methodist Church. EDWARD PLOWMAN Mrs. Edward L. (Dora) Plowman, 92, died Sunday at the Stephenson Nursing Center, where she had resided the past Born Nov. 27, 1884, in Germany, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Herman Waller.

She married Edward L. Plowman Sr. Feb. 8, 1915, in Freeport He died May 2,1963. Surviving are two sons, Walter C.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Wayne of Freeport; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Paul Johnson, both of Thomson; and two sisters, Mrs. Luther Leavens of Savana and Mrs. Harry Jergens of Thomson. R1RS. IRA LOGEMANN WARREN Funeral service was held today at the Bartell Funeral Home In Warren for Mrs.

Ira (Estelle) Logemann, 78, of Warren, who died at home early Friday morning. The Rev. Dale Luther of Warren United Church and Rev. George Ford of Warren Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Townsend Cemetery, rural Stockton.

She and her husband had farmed in the Stockton area until retiring to Warren 20 years ago. She Northern Illinois, University at DeKalb, was a member of the Stockton Methodist Church for many years and was a former president of the Women's Society of Christian Service. Born March 6,1899, in Rush Township, Jo Daviess County, she was the daughter of Richard and Rebecca (Townsend) Darnill. She married Ira Logemann Dec. 24,1919, in Stockton.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Eldon and Bruce of Stockton, and Richard of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five daughters, Mrs. Paul (Lucille) Molterof Freeport, Mrs. Robert (lone) Weckerly of Warren, Mrs. Vjernon (Jean)lBan- warth of Elizabeth, Mrs. Jack (Joan) Goard of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs.

Raymond (Mae) Kappas of Savanna and Mrs. James (Judith) Wolfram of Loves Park; 36 grandchildren; 27 great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hill of Stockton and Mrs. Robert Wing of Nora. MRS.

ELMER BEYER WARREN Mrs. Elmer (Esther Beyer, 76, of Warren, died Sunday at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, following a brief illness. An interior decorator, she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Warren.

Born May 5, 1901, in Rush Township, Jo Daviess County, she was the daughter of Christian and Barbara (Kommerall) Fiedler. She married Elmer Beyer March 30, 1921, in Galena. He died in 1933. Surviving are.two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Thompson of Warren and Miss Joyce Beyer of Stockton; one son, Elmer of Rockford; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tony of Warren and Roy of Madison, and two sisters, Mrs.

Rose Donavon of Rockford and Mrs. Otto (Ruth) Meier of Apple River. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St.

John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Massbach, with the" Rev. Benjamin Davis, pastor, officiating. There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements were completed by the Hermann Funeral Home in 'Stockton. A memorial fund has been established.

MRS. NONA M.TRUDE STOCKTON Mrs. Nona M. Trude, 57, of Stockton, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Freeport Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.

She was a former news correspondent for the Stockton Herald, a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Women's Society of Christian Service and the Jefferson Thrift Club. Born May 26, 1920, in Elizabeth Township, Jo Daviess County, she was the daughter of Forest and Ella (Boussman) Heidenreich. Surviving are a son, John of Rockford; three brothers, Calvin and Wilbur, both and 14 great- of Rockford, and Orville of Elizabeth; at St. Joseph School Hall two sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Pearl) Ahrens of Wlnnebago and Mrs.

Wlllfs (Virginia) McPhilllps of Stockton. She was preceded In death by her parents, five children and one brother. Funeral service will be at 2. p.m. Wednesday at the Hermann Funeral Home In Stockton, with the Rev.

Charle? Fleck, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ladies Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the church's Missionary Support Fund; MRS.

JACOB STURTEVANT WARREN Mrs.Jacob (Evelyn) Sturtevant, 72, of Warren, died early this morning at St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford. She was a homemaker and member of First Brethren Church of Lanark. Born May 5,1905, near Pearl City, she was the daughter of Charles and Emma (Kuhlemeier) Koch. She married Jacob Sturtevant June 20,1923, in Lanark.

Surviving are her husband, one soh, Merle of Lanark; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Jacqueline) Heeren of Lanark; six granchildren; three great- grandchildren; a brother, Harold of Shannon; and two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Althoff of Freeport and Mrs. Everette (Orelda) Sturtevant of Lanark. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Frank Funeral Home in Lanark, with the Rev. David E. Cooksey, pastor of First Brethren Church of Lanark, officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m.

Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. MRS. HARRY KELLER MOUNT MORRIS Mrs. Harry (Ada) Keller, 66, of Lakehurst, N.J., died Saturday at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J.

Born June 29,1911, in Forreston, she was the daughter of Albertus and Ella (Garkey) Holland. She married Harry Keller in 1932 in Mount Morris. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Judi) McAlarnen of New Jersey; two grandchildren; two half-brothers, Glenn and Ross Springer, both of Mount Morris; and a brother, Floyd, of Orlando, Fla. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m.

Thursday at the Finch Funeral Home in Mount Morris, with the Rev. James E. Scorgia, pastor of the Disciples United Methodist Church in Mount Morris, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m.
