The treat improvement made by my pupils, who have used Jones's Elementary Copy Hooka, in learoilur to write, warrants ine in recommending them to the notice of teach ers 1 am glad to una mis syate.o gaming a uocntq nopiiUniy, and that reiiu are aware of the importance of lliir children properly instructed in large hand exercise I attribtiin the defects in the hand writing of young ladieh to injudicious teaching in giving fine hand exercises to write, before any foundation or coiinnand of the ncn is acquired in large characters. 4 AGNES M.

GIBSON. My opinion i decidedly in favour of teaching pupils the correct use of the pen in large character. By tins means the l' ariicr not only acquires the greatest ease in execution, hut hn those resources developed which enable him to write an on" fincl 6ux'ne Aatid in accordance witn hi own taste. The practice of teaching systematic line hand writing, in which no freeitoiu or command of the pen is acquired, id a miserable substitute for sound instruction. The Elementary course of instruction in Jones's writing oks affords greater facilities for leaching the correct use of the nrn than auv thiim that I have seen and if rightly used will be of incalculable benefit to both teachers and pupils.

We view the nlan as an oririnal invention of great merit it differs essentially from any thing else of the kind that we have seen the elementary principles oe mg more correctly written, and the syjtein of guidance better nrranr and more cninulete. We believe that no department of instruction has suffered more from injudicious teaching than that of Penmanship and we consider, from the creat improvement made by oor Pupils, that this system of elementary instruction, if proper ly pursued, is calculated to eneci a mmuirr rriorui. WYCKOr'F RAND. The Conv Books, with all the advantaees they possess, re attended with no more expenw to the learner than so much nlam nauer. Thev contain exercises adapted to every I age of the learner's progress, and are so constructed that the learner cannot fail in the practice of the Examples given, to devcl in ami exercise everv movement necessary to th attainment of LEGIBLE AND EXPEDITIOUS WR1 TINO.
