Vnder the wartime impulse of military duty a simple ceremony waa employed for the marriage of Miss Geneva Clemana, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cirmans of near Cedar-ville, and Ensign Frederick Russell Heifner of Jamestown, at the home of the bride's parents.

Ensign Heifner, who has been an instructor in instrument and radio flying at the United States naval air base at Pensaiola, is under orders to organize a scouting squadron and leave for action. Coles-Upton Vows Spoken TROY, Dec. 27. Mies Eliza-heth Jane Coles, younger daughter of Wayter Hays Coles and the late Mrs. Fanny Thompson Coles, and Joseph Upton, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Joseph Upton, of Great Neck, N. were united in marriage tonight in a beautiful Bervice in the First Presbyterian church, the young couplt exchanging their nuptial vows In a single ring service conducted by the Rev. Carl Winters, pastor. The Informal wed-dinjr ceremony was one of the social events of the season in Troy and vicinity and outstanding in the year's calendar.

The bride's procession was lead by the four bridesmaids, Miss Ann Howard of Greenwich, Mrs. McKnight Kinne of Hattiesburg, Mra. William Howell and Mrs, John, Ross ff Troy. Following was the maid of honor, Miss Lee Zimmerman of Geneva, III. The ring bearer was Master Peter Thompson, son of Mr.

and Mrs. John Thompson of Dayton. Tho bride's wedding gown was of ivory brocade fashioned with fitted bodice and long sleeves. Her veil was of tulle flowing from a small Juliet cap of the same material, while her bouquet was a cluster of white camelia. The bride is a member of a widoly-known family and is a graduate of the Troy high school and Vassar college.

The bride-groom is graduate of Philip Andover academy and Yale university and ia associated with the Welded Steel Products Co, of Long Island City, i .5 1 r. .7 -A vt If II i Because nf this situation the wedding plans of the couple were quiet and the date was advanced from a tentative summer ceremony. Dr. W. R.

McChesney, president emeritus of Cedarvilto college, both principals attended school, officiated at the service in the presence of 45 guests. Miss Gertrude Burrage of Cincinnati, a former roommate and sorority sister of the bride at Miami university, was the only attendant. A reception followed withMiss Barbara Galloway and Miss Virginia Townsley assisting. Ensign and Mrs. Heifner waited until after Christmas to leave for the coast and Mrs.

Heifner will return next month to continue teaching at Spring Valley high school. Ensign Heifner, who attended Ohio State university after his work st Cedarville, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heifner of Jamestown, Miss Naomi Ferguson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs.

Harry Ferguson, Upper Bellbronk pike, be came the bride of John Charles Puiuirwit of Bellbrook in a ceremony at the home of her parents at which the Rev. Charles Darst read the double ring ceremony in the presence of 60 guests. Miss Florence Ferguson, sister of the bride, and Robert Fenne-wit, Bellbrook, brother of the bridegroom, were the attendants. A weeding supper was served at the Ferguson home and Mr, and Mrs. Fennewit left on a brief honeymoon from which they returned to make their home in Bellbrook.

Mr. Fennewit is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R.

Fennewit of Bellbrook and is associated with his father in the hardwaro business there. Christmas sppointments in red and white formed the table decorations for the lovely holiday luncheon and bridge party at which Mrs. T. Ungard and Mrs. Charles B.

Lawson were hostesses at Rike's in Dayton. Guests were received for 11 tables, including Thomas W. Chesterton, Wellcsley, Mrs, Robert Collier, Cincinnati, and Mrs. N. T.

Pavey of Dayton. Mrs. Thilander Cable of "Whitehall," Yellow Springs, has issued invitations for a dancing party there Tuesday honoring ner daughter, Miss Floury Velie who is home for the holidays from her studies at Foxcroft school, Middleburg, Va. -Mrs, Cablo returned for the holidays from Del Ray, where she was sojourning. Johnny Doom's orchestra of Dayton will supply rhythm for the Central high homecoming dance in the school gymnasium Tuesday evening.

Last Sunday, in a Christmas setting in the sanctuary of First Baptist church, Miss Mary Eliz-' abeth Masteller, daughter of Mrs. Wallace W. Masteller, S. Miami became the bride of Leonard P. Shelley of Ann Arbor, son and Mr.

and Mrs. Percy Shelley of Paterson, N. J. Misa Jane Masteller and Fred Elminger of New York, N. were the attendants, with Garry Clarke, Montour Falls, N.

and Jack Masteller, student at Capital university Columbus, the ushers. The bride walked to the altar with her brother, Lieut Wallace Masteller of Fort Knox, Ky. Several hundred guests were present for the service and 45 guests were entertained for the wedding dinner in the Masteller home. The young couple went east on their honeymoon and will reside in Ann Arbor. Wayne Dunn of Long Beach, is home to spend the Christmas week with his parents, Mr.

Benecke. Newman club members held a mother and daughter party for the December meeting, entertaining in the home of Miss Mary Lauterbur on S. Main av. The children presented the early part of the program, followed by Miss Mary Ida Dooriley giving a Christmas reading. JOSEPH UPTON, JR. Finds Dandelions In Yard; Adorns Table BELLEFONTAINE, Dec. 27 -Police Patrolman Wendell W. Bird, who picked three bright yellow dandelions from the lawn at his home at 312 8. Park here, Dec.

preserved them for a Christmas table decoration. Ruefully, he explained, he did not find enough dandelion plants to eat. with the exception of one daughter. Mrs. J.

B. Snell entertained 15 members of the chorus of class Ten of the Congregational Christian Sunday school at a Christmas tea. A part of the afternoon was spent in the singing of carols and Christmas hymns. The First Troy National Bank and Trust Co. entertained its employes at a Christmas dinner party at the West Milton Inn.

Places were marked for 48, including employes, members of the board and guests. Following the dinner each employe was presented with a bonus and a two-pound box of pecans from New Orleans. Young people of Troy high school and college age have been invited to the junior Christmas dance at the Troy Country club Monday night. Billie Burke and his orchestra will furnish music. Mrs.

Edna Harvey is visiting in Indiapalolis. Robert Priser has completed a course in Polaris Flight academy, Glendale, and is visiting his mother, Mrs. Ethel Priser, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Roberts.

Mr, and Mrs. II. Allen Mason and sons Allen and Philip of Decatur, are spending the Christmas season with the former's mother, Mrs. A. B.

Thursday, Jan. 15. The attendants will be Miss Mary McEldowney, sister of the bride, and William Lehart. After the ceremony a wedding dinner will be served to the immediate family and the couple will leave for Stanhope, N. where they will occupy a newly established home.

The bride-to-be has been employed since May 6, 1940, as a diputy in the probate court office. She has resigned that position, effective Dec. SI. Mr. Tarsons is a radio operator and is employed by the American Telegraph and Telephone Co.

Peter Trossen of Altamont, N. has announced the marriage of her daughter, Martha Barbara, to James H. St. John on Sunday, Dec. 21.

The ceremony was performed at the WillnugTiby Methodist church in Willoughby. Mrs. St. John has been a teacher at the Battell school in Misha-waka, and Mr. St.

John is a professor of history at Miami university. He also is past president of the local chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and a member of the Miami university orchestra. They will be at home at 200 E. and Mrs. Ivan Adams of Grand Rapids, brother-in-law and sister of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Swisher are graduates of the Troy high school.

The bridegroom is the son of Tracy Swisher and is employed in the offices of the Hobart Bros. Co. His bride has been employed in the office of the Hobart Manufacturing Co. The Jr. 0.

U. A. M. lodge held their Christmas party Tuesday night in the Jr. 0.

U. A. M. hall for the entertainment of the members and their families. A minstrel was presented by a group of members from a Dayton Junior order after which Santa Claus joined the party.

Dancing closed the evening's entertainment. A father and son banquet will be held in the council rooms on the evening of Jan. 21. Mrs. Caroline Croner, widow of Gustax Croner, received approximately 150 of her relatives and friends Sunday afternoon, Dec.

21, when they called to extend congratulations on her 101st birthday. She received many remembrances and gifts. Miss Lois Botzenhart, great-granddaughter of the celebrant, presided over the tea table. The Rev. George Mildebrand, pastor of the St.

John's Evangelical church, of which Mrs. Croner is the oldest living member, talked informally. Mrs. Croner celebrated her 100th anniversary a year ago with a family dinner party at the Altrurian club. She came to Troy in her early married life and has lived since that time at 310 S.

Market st. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Trugh and children Peter and Sally at Dea Moines, are visiting Troy and Piqua relatives. In Troy they are guests of the Rev.

H. B. Jordan and infant son who have been visiting the past month with Mr. Jordan's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

W. M. Horn entertained at a family dinner in her country home near Harper's Ferry. Mrs. Margaret Cawcutt and daughter Margaret of Minneapolis are -visiting her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. J. C. McClennan. George Cawcett has been here for several weeks.

At the close of the holidays Mrs. Cawcett and daughter expect to go to Florida for a stay. Mr. and Mrs. David Alexandf-r observed their golden wedding anniversary with a family dinner Christmas at their home, three miles south of Troy on the Dixie highway.

A reception was held. Mr. Alexander is 72 and Mrs. Alexander 63. Both lead active lives.

Knoff officiating, Miss Thelma L. Scholl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H.

Scholl of northeast of this city, and Glen M. Dillon, son of Mr. snd Mrs. John Dillon of 818 Hickory st. in this city, were united in marriage.

Miss Delia-rose Brooks was maid of honor and John Jacobs was best man. The ceremony was witnessed by immediate relatives and close friends. Following the ceremony a wedding reception was held at the Dillon home, attended by relatives and friends. After a wedding trip the bridegroom will return on Jan. 3 to Camp Knox, having entered the military service Jan.

81, 1941. The bride will continue to live in this city. The bride Is a graduate of the Jackson, high school and of Miami-Jacobs Business college in Dayton. She has been employed ss stenographer snd bookkeeper in the local office of the Public Service Co, Mr. Dillon is a graduate of tho Union City, high school and a former employe of the International Seat Corp.

John Molyneaux. The marriage took place Thursday, Pec. 18, at the chapel of the Presbyterian church in Cheyenne. The bride is a graduate of Coe college, Grinnell, Iowa, and the bridegroom is a graduate of Culver Military academy. He aUo attended Purdue university.
